Escort zetec turbo sleeper, pictures
Final got some pictures of my old MK5 xr3i 204 bhp sleeper, i bought the car almost standard with the intention of making a fast turbo car i could use every day, that would not draw attention to itself in a time of asbo's and all that. The spec is as follows; 1800 silvertop zetec, standard bottom end with new big end shells as a preventetive measure, aluminium decomp plate, custom made steel exhaust manifold, custom downpipe, subaru forester turbo and 440cc injectors (rail modified to suit) std mtx75 gearbox, 204bhp and 214ftlb @ a very safe 12psi boost. It also had rs 2k clocks, bonnet and i belive the seats are rs too? the exhaust had three silencers and was very modest. It was a great allround car that i used daily, and covered 12,000 miles in the year i had it. Another thing you will notice is the almost std appearance of the engine, very insurance friendly at the time lol

I fancy doing something similar again, that i can use every day. Was thinking 2 litre ESP focus mk1 with a turbo and some forged pistons, on MS.

negetive! it was all tigged at first, but it cracked somewhat so it was migged up and a support was added to stress relieve it a bit, without taking it off, as i said the car was used everyday, and all the work was done by me.

Cool little sleeper that, engine bay looks almost standard! Very cool.
Suprised the plastic inlet piping coped with boost though, they never look particularly air tight to me on those engines

cheers, i though the same, but it worked very well at the boost level i was running. I thought i would try it and see, it worked, so all was good in keeping the standard looks.

why the frs gasket? its the wrong bore size and is mls, i would just use a fibre one, never had a gasket problem with the zetecs. 220-240 bhp, much more and things start to go a bit wrong IMO
