Had a few setbacks today first of all the crank sensor wire fell off as I removed it luckily I had bought a new one anyway

Then fitting the cambelt the stud for the tensioner stripped it's thread, not a good morning I retapped it nut wasn't happy with it so got a helicoil kit and sorted that out. Alls good now belt on and timed up

Finally got it running today started first turn of the key caught me by suprise
Ran it up all looks ok the the battery light came on, after a bit of searching and head scratching traced it to the alternator wires badly perished and hanging out of the plug

Name: imagejpg1-77.jpg
Views: 33
Size: 787.8 KB

Peeled it back to find this

Name: imagejpg3-23.jpg
Views: 32
Size: 741.1 KB

So cutting all that out and replacing it and braiding it then wrapping in heat proof sleeping, that's my job for tomorrow
The main cable seems too big to solder any one done this before

Sorted the wires to the alternator but the light on the dash is still on and only putting 12.2volts in battery when running
Put a mates old alternator on and lights gone off but only 12.6volts
So think it's defo time for a new alternator
