yes barry it can be done ,
its a case of finding the correct gearbox ,
im not 100% sure if the cos t5 will mount up ,
the mt75 will if i rember correctly ,
converting the engine is relatively straitforward
although if your looking to source the work out , drop me a pm , i know a guy whos building my engine who can do the whole motor for you , hes build a few in the past ,
drop me a pm mate ,

some things you'll need to sort when you fit a zetec/zvh to a sierra (partially taken from my response to barry's PM):
Clutch+flywheel (to fit type 9) - cvh ones with bolt holes drilled to 11mm
the only 'real' problem with fitting a zetec is the water outlet at the back of the head, you can either modify your bulkhead to fit the zetec thermostat housing, or buy a raceline/retro ford water rail kit.
apart from that, its a case of making the CVH manifold fit the zetec head (redrill and tap the head to suit). fit the CVH sump, pickup pipe, rear main oil seal housing and the engine mounts (although you may need to make a bracket for the nearside). obviously you'd have to sort the wiring out and a fuel pump, but there's not really much else to it!
