My Sapphire Race Car
This is not quite up to the standard of most on here but thought i should post a few pictures of my sapphire race project from back in 2008.
She started as a 2.0l ghia, condition was not too bad but work was clearly needed.
sadly i haven't got any pictures of the build so i will have to go straight to the finished product. But it involved striping it right down, fitting a roll cage, as it was going to be used for racing it was lowered and suspension was modified at the same time. The steering also had changes made to it.
Modification to suspension was via a length of 2x4 timber inserted inside the spring to stop it compressing on the rear nearside corner. Lowering obviously via the added weight of the dhiatsu charade on the roof. Steering was modified by removing the column in the saph and connecting the rack in the sierra to the wheel in the charade.
this meant that the driver on top did the steering and the driver in bottom did the pedals.
here is the finished product.
also a few videos of her in action

and a video of the race

and yes we did infact roll the black one 1 and a half times
sadly she only lasted 3 races.
