mk1 fiesta 16v turbo pic heavy!!!
Thought it was about time i put a thread of my car on here........
I owned the car years ago it was orinally a 1.6 crosflow when i got it. although this engine had been put in it as its one of the first fiestas out there (1976)....Havent seen any others out there
it was going to be a zetec turbo with candy red paint, had polished 16" compomotives etc etc.......
well, i sold it to a mate, who stuck a 1.8 zetec lump in. He didnt finish it as he needed the space. He sold it on to someone i knew, then that matey sold it. Then it was sold again.lol Well i bumped into an old mate who asked me what ford i had these days,i told him i was building a mk1 fez and he said.....WANNA BUY ANOTHER ONE? I told him i was happy with mine and then he said this one's dark red, adjustable panard rod, crystal lights....and i knew straight away it was my old car.I said its got mk1 golf arches and he said Yeah, how do you know?????lol
well i got it back and it must of been fate!!!!!!!lol was just meant to be!
Anyway, ive had the car back now for just over a year and a half and has came quite far in that time....... Ive had approx 20 rs turbos in my time and always wanted something that bit different. Always had a softspot for mk1 fiestas, and always had my eye on this car since i was a kid. (that sounds wierd lol)
When i got it back.......i said to my self i want this to be "proper" and to go quite well especially as its so small.........
I decided i wanted to go the zetec route, gathered all the bits i needed, struck a few deals here and there......... I originally had a cts box, but as my spec grew, i knew it wouldnt hold. Struggled to get a clutch, so i decided to try and get a mtx box in there. Gathered a bit of info, decided to go with the rs 2000 item. Considering id been told you wouldnt get on in the bay, it was very simple and didnt require much more cutting than the 5 speed bc/ib5 's. Even bolted up nice to the cradle. I decided to mod the floor rather than the selector so i knew the selector would be bang on. Had some custom shafts made.Had a custom helix clutch made. Just a shame the car had already been painted when i decided to go mtx
so it had to go back lol
With the shell side of things, the frontend was fully seam welded, i had my cuz fabricate me up some new rear struts as i wanted the suspension fully adjustable. I then ordered coilovers from gaz. My cuz also added a few bars to my cage to strenghten things up......It also had a proper dodgy sunroof......so the easiest thing for me to do was get a carbon one. I bonded it on and had it smoothed into the pillars then masked up so only the top is visable. I also have a full carbon bonnet, interior pannels and a couple of other bits.
Regarding the engine, Its a 2.0 silvertop, steel rods, forged pistons. Had the block bored to 86mm. Uprated valvesprings. I had a custom adaptor plate made so i could use my old efi converted xr3i inlet. Tubular manifold with a hybrid t35/t28 turbo from turbo developments. Tial external wastegate. The head is standard for now as im sure it will be plenty for now, and that can be progression for the future.
As for management i am just using frst ofab with area six zetec turbo chip,3 bar map sensor and 058 injectors. Again, this should do for now.
Ive got custom roose hoses, loads of braided inc brake lines, oil return, fuel system, breathers etc. Ive got pretty much everything now and after what feels like an eternity, the engine is in the hole without having to come out again.
Missed loads of info out thats on xrtwo.com if you want to have a look. Some of the pics tell the story anyway.
Im seeing light at the end of the tunnel, and its cost me a small fortune to get to this stage.
so much for trying to keep to a budget lol

thanks for the comments did a couple more bits...... front coilovers and alloy top mounts on. Need to get the wheels back on to make it rolling, so stuck the rs2000 discs on cossie calipers. They need taking off and stripping/painting, so will do that when i make some custom adjustable ties bars, adjustable tcas and fit all the front polybushes.......
fitted the strutbrace now too, fitted the coilpack and bracket now too.
