Default Need some advice on underbody prep

I preparing the underbody on my Cossy and need to have the answers before I start this...

The spare wheel bowl has a little bit of pitting in it (NOT holed), just slight pin pricks in the metal.

I am being told different things from different body shops and someone on here must have come across the same thing as me.

When I acid etch the floor I was told to use high build primer afterwards on the tatty bits then rub back and then body colour.

However!

Colour needs to be applied to acid etch when it is still tacky (4-6 hours) so how do I do this if I have to rub back the high build areas?

Can you acid etch over acid etch or can I scotch bright the 1st cured acid etch then colour?
