Default XE Corsa on bike throttle bodies

Bought this on friday.

Mate of mine built himself a XE corsa on bike throttle bodies but recently it decided to expire so rather than fix it he wanted shot of it as they've just had a baby last week and he's bought a zafira instead.

So I got it off him as he was letting it go cheap because it was broken.

I whipped the head off, and it had properly blown the gasket, to the extent it had burnt into the head itself, so it needed a new one, looks like its had something go through the inlet too as there was a little damage to the piston on number 4 as well, but luckily nothing that matters.

Simon Denman had the old head off his rally car lieing around now that he has bought my nova head off me for his big power build, so I chucked that on it and its back up and running now.

Need to get some tax on it and a set of plates as the tax has just run out and my mate wanted his private reg back, but hopefully will get that done in the next couple of weeks and map it.
Annoyingly I had already put a pretty decent basemap on it for him before but that map was lost when his mate was messing around with it trying to mess about with it when it started running rough (before they realised it was mechanically damaged) and accidently wiped it off, lol, so I need to start again now with the mapping, but thats not a problem obviously.

Didnt get a chance to get a decent picture of it, but this gives the idea at least.

Its got some budget coilovers on the front and some matching shocks and adjustable spring platforms on the back.

Got a pair of old bucket seats and harnesses inside, and got 288mm disks with new EBC greenstuff pads and grooved/drilled disks.
Also came on some T1R's that have only done 14 miles from new.

I'll try and get some better pics weekend after next as im at combe in the clio next weekend so wont get a chance.

Figured it will do me for TV-live at castle combe on august the 7th if I havent got the Nova up and running by then.

I'd guess at about 160-170bhp or so, its not going to be massive power on such a basic setup (standard cams, standard head, standard exhaust manifold etc), but should still be enough to be good fun on the lanes of somerset near me

Be a good giggle to take it to trackdays with the clio and then me and a mate can have a little battle with them both, as they are fairly even in a straight line from what I remember of how it went when I was mapping it originally, although the corsa has better brakes and the clio handles better, but not by a massive amount in either case.

Thanks, will need to tap you up for those tyres as soon as I find a spare set of wheels the right size for it, ideally some 7*15 MO's but I guess the odds of a set coming up quickly at the right price are slim!

Looks alright for a cheap toy.

Out of interest, as I haven't really kept up with it, what was the reasoning behind switching to a Saab lump in the Nova?

I broke the block apart on the vauxhall engine, writing off a very expensive set of pistons in the process but luckily not a few grand of head and arrow crank and rods.
So I decided to get out while the going was good and use a cheap disposable e fine that is yb standard to begin with so should do over 400bhp on standard internals.

Cheap ftw these days for me as I'm trying to cut back spending on cars, which doesn't allow me over 10k for an engine now.

I actually like messing around with cheap stuff more anyway, less stressful if it goes wrong.

That's fair enough mate.

Guy I knew had a 900 with the 2.0 turbo engine in, about a P-plate, was amazed at how strong the engines are supposed to be actually!

What does "IIF" mean?
To me thats a programming term, for an if statement with 2 distinct operations depending on the outcome, so has it got some trendy forum speak meaning now though or something?
