I think his name is Alex the Kid? well anyway a guy did it to a focus but wanted to keep the other comforts the RS lacked, anyway IIRC he just got a whole doner rs to switch bits, be interested in seeing it as its what i have thought about if the engine ever gives up on mine

there the same underneith! the rs engine is just a 2l zetec lump so it will drop in the focus no trouble at all! all the mounts are availible! you will want the engine and interior loom and dials key ect that relates to the rs engine! all the sub frames and stuff you can keep as they will work fine! the rs has a wider track but you wont need that on the st170. the rs also uses the same driveshafts as the st170 so they wont be a problem! only other thing is the chargecooler setup and the fuel pump! pretty easy conversion if you know what your doing! personaly i wouldnt touch pumaspeed or pumabuild with a barge pole! only out there for your money! there are few companys i would trust in this day in age with having your car word of warning!
do it yourself it will be nicer knowing you have done it in the end

why dont u keep the 6 speed gear box and get a new flywheel and clutch to get rid of the dmf that way you can keep all ur st drive shafts and hubs. drop in the rs engine the mount should fit sort the loom swap over the brakes

hi mate i was doing an rs into st conversion before i was offered the rs shell so i looked into a few things.
as previously said the rs track is wider, and unless your fitting the rs arches front and rear your going to have to stick to the st170 subframes and hubs all round, but the engine and box will slot straight in yes.
you do need the rs loom from the bulkhead forwards (3 parts) you also need the rs fuel pump and clocks, and all the obvious stuff like the rs radiators e.t.c
but the rs and st shafts are NOT the same (sorry ben) the spline sizes are different on the st and will not fit with the rs box (st shafts ok if you keep the st box though) and the rs shafts are longer, so therefore neither will work with this conversion.
you need the tdci diesel shafts, i believe the 2.0 petrol shafts also fit fine but cant handle as much torque as the diesel shafts so for reliability your best off with the diesel shafts
you will also need to use the driveshaft bracket from which ever driveshafts you decide on, and you will have to modify this so it will bolt up to the rs engine where the original shaft bracket used to bolt up, as the rs shaft bracket will not fit the other driveshafts
all dead easy and straight forward to do too if you handy with spanners.
good luck

the only down side i can see is that you lose the quaife atb diff.. which in my opinion is a big loss!
