My first restoration moonstone 3door d277jcl stood since 1996 - painted
Well where do i start, about 5 years ago i heard about a 3 door cosworth that had been stod since 1996! Well i did what any rs chap would do and that was hunt it down and not walk away untill i owned it. Result.
It was only untill i got the car to its new home for a few years (a kind sister and bro inlaw) that i realised what i had bought. Time had taken its toll on the old girl and yet only having covered 70000 miles up till '96 thebodywork was what most would say reshell time.
I left her covered up for about 4 years and a little over 12 months ago moved her to work to see what i wanted or could do with her.
Well thats where it all starts , i got on the phone and purchaced 2 wings, 2 inner wings 2 sills , 2 head light repair panels a pair of mint doors and a mint tailgate and that was just for starters!
I dragged it down to my body shop and set to replacing these panels , painted all the closures and the insides of the doors and tailgate. She then came back to my work in november to have the floor to sills, iner sills, bot floor sides (where the sunroof drain tubes go through) and a few mechanical jobs done to aid moveability in and out of the booth for exterior paint.
The idea of this was due to the amount of blocking and sanding required to remove 3 different coats of paint off the car due to one of them being a culprit of micro blistering, advise from the painter was get it all off but pushing the old girl around was proving to be a pain!
Unfortunately i only have the pictures from when i started to lets say 'get carried away' and i think and hope they speak for themselves, obviosly you will see every nut and bolt was re zinced, every item powder coated or painted and anything new i could get i got, the engine was iffy i ended up rebuilding that too! i just wish i had before pictures, believe me i had no intension of doing this i just wanted it on the road, im trying my best to get it to national day but it was supposed to be finished for central but we all know how things drag on, well enought said enjoy!!!
some one put a cock in my engine!!!

thanks guys,
i was hoping for it to make central day this year but sometimes moving quick in a project like this isnt your descision so all i can hope for is national day , very fitting really if it does make it for its first rs show to be n/d and at its birth place!! As for the wheels its going to be totaly std as much as possible, the s/s exhaust is for noise mainly, and the bushes are poly items for a couple of reasons 1 the std trailing arm bushes are mega expensive and 2 std front bushes last five mins!!
ill get a couple of more pics up as it stands now as soon as i can

still waiting to get mine down off the 2 poster to get a few more pics to update the thread but massive work loads means the space under neath is valuble work space but the lack of ramp in the workshop is hindering us no end so the sooner its of the ramp the more money we can make!!! catch 22!!
