1981 escort 5 dr project
Hello there,
I bought my Escort about a month ago form ebay, I have never had a ford before but really enjoying it atm, the car is great, rund and drives like new! I have done the usual things since buying it, service etc, but it seems to be drinking petrol, i have changed all the petrol pipes and put in a fuel filter but it is doing about 20 mpg! Can anyone help me at all???

is it unleaded fuel as i think early cvh's are leaded but dont quote me on that, other than that the carb is set to high and overfueling or just a tired engine, get the spanners out and get a 2.0 zetec or duratec in there anyway as it looks a nice shell and would be a good sleeper

love these had a 1.3 sunburst red one for my first car 
happy days!wish i could see th pics on my phone they wont show :-( also mine was w reg first of the mk3 i believe it was using leaded fuel and didnt run so well when they stopped selling it,i put a fuel cat on which was meant to add lead back into unleaded fuel,waste of time and money,as said above get a zetec in there

lol no the engine is fine, 58000 miles and is sweet! it has never been welded and doesn't need it, its been looked after really well. I have been running it on normal unleaded, after having a good look at it the carb isn't the original, it is a weber 32 ibf? i think a bigger one is needed any suggestions?
oh and i have a set of capri lazer wheels to go on it

I'd leave it all original if i were you mate, get it rediculously clean and take it to shows, look out for another less tidy example and put those wheels on / modify that one 
looks mint!
