Default my MK2 mondeo

right i picked this up yesterday

its a bit shabby at the moment but that was reflected in the £240 price tag

now the fun starts, driving it back home it cruised nice and smooth at a steady 95, no problems but driving round the town it idles rough and can sometimes stall, there is a slight knock on the passenger side rear suspension, a crack in the manifold thats getting seen to in a few weeks, the clutch feels roung from a standstill, it has surface rust all over the place and a nice dent in the pass side front wing that can be knocked out easily for now, and a few cracks in the front bumper which the previous owner said she had pressed the throttle instead of the brake in a parking space and a bollard broke the bumper so its covered with duct tape lol.

this will be a very long work in progress to bring back to a better looking motor.

any info or ideas would be very welcome for a first time ford driver

you forgot to put kph after the 95

start with a service to see if that cures the runing problems.

any specific typ of plugs that would be best as there is tons of different ones, also would removing the air box and fitting a cone filter make it breath better??

Ive always used ford plugs in my mondys. as far as a cone filter, they suffer heatsoke badly on mondys due to ford placing the airfilter behind the battery. a panel filter will make a difference, or an enclosed induction kit like the pipercross viper, with a cold air feed is best IMHO. since ive got rid of the cone filter, and replaced it with a viper, there is a noticable difference.

its should be easy to get the filter to fit inside of the panel filter box as ive managed to do it on my mk3 astra and the cone filter is one of them long type cone ones, if not a K&N one would be good??

K&N are good mate yeah. ive used both K&N and Pipercross over the years, had a K&N panel filter at first, that worked well. then changed it for a K&N induction kit, and although it sounded very nice, it suffered badly from heatsoke, and as i said, ive now got an enclosed viper, and thats the best of the lot, but they are very expensive, you will pay nearly as much as you paid for the car for a viper lol

ok, a panel filter it be then lol, also the rear suspension arms could do with an overhaul or replacement, where can these parts be bought from apart from ford themselves, or at least replacement bushes fot the whole rear because if it works out a fortune to replace the arms ill renew the bushes and give the existing ones with a sand down and lick of paint
