Got the rest of the wheels on today.





Don't know why but I'm not feeling it? I think they look smaller than my RS7's? Think they may be up for sale shortly....

The only problem I have is I need to have them straightened, they all have a wee wobble in them, only found out when I put the tyres on. So much for the powder coasters! Waste of time they were, will need to straighten them then have them coated again!

Would keep them the same colour mate, they are starting to grow on me again.

Well I thought I would dig out my old wheels that were originally on the car. Literally had to dig them out of a bush, they had been in there for the past 4 - 5 yrs!!

My little girl gave them a clean



As I said, they'd been in there a while! Had stuff growing on them...



Now I had to check the wheels went over the cossie brakes, even with a flat tyre which didn't help.



Fill the arches quite well





Rears were ok but the fronts don't fit.



Calipers touch the back of the wheel on the fronts..



Now it looks like I may need to cut out about 10mm from the back bit I'm a wee but worried that I could lose strength in the wheel...

Not sure if it's too late, but I think your clearance problems could be resolved if you use a Mondeo Mk1 V6 278mm disc with existing Escort Cosworth calipers. More offset. But you will also need to use XR4x4 uprights. I've done some similar stuff. Should work. The only question mark is on driveshaft length. This is all assuming you are using standard Escort Cosworth brakes. Best of luck. Better than machining the wheels....

I dont think I would want to remove more than 1 or 2mm before I started to get worried

You might get away with 10mm on front and 5 mm on back to even it out...I bet the bodykit could be spaced a little too?

I would stick with the lovely bigger wheels though....personally

Yes that sounds about right as the xr4x4 lugs for the caliper mounts are about 10/15 mm inboard of the cosworth hub carriers, I have several sets of both types here, I wasn't sure about the offset of the mondeo disc tho, the mondeo v6 mk 1 early mk2 have the same front caliper as the cosworth 4x4 only the mounting bracket is different bolts are bigger on the mondeo


would be very easy and cheap to try it tho!

Looks like I have just bought myself a new set of Rondells. So these ones are up for sale if anyone wants them, just fire over an offer.


I am going to give the spacers a try first on the std wheels, I don't want to cut anything off the caliper or wheels. I also have a different idea, I have 4x4 Granada hubs here, I might put them on with these



Just don't know if the cossie brakes will clear the back of them? Should do as far as I know.

No mate sorry. I'll never sell them, they look to good on the car and I can always fall back on them for it. I love them, just getting that itch to change something you know.

If you knock out 3 of the wheel studs the last one should line up so at least you could bolt one on for a look and fit check.

Sorry guys, the post with the comps was me testing my photobucket account working normally as it doesn't on the escort cosworth forum.

Those are my 18" x 9 and 10" comps that are going on my escort cosworth track car.

Et 0 on the 10's by the way! they wouldn't even fit in the arches!

I haven't had a chance over the xmas period to do the wheels on the S1. Can't decide whether to buy the S2 cossie shell on eBay and transfer it all over or not....

I would be keeping the S1, I am going to take off all the straight cut box, 6 deg beam and supra rear end and put std stuff back on. I want to make it "nice" to drive again. Also going to redo the wiring loom with a custom one so I have a lot of the stuff already to build the S2 for a track toy.... I'm getting a smith and jones block / head for my Escos track car so I will have a spare engine too. Nearly got all the bits to built it then...

What Capacity are you going for with the Smith and Jones engine? Is there a big benefit in getting the head?

Haven't really ironed out the details yet but when I was talking to Pierro I told him a wanted 600bhp or over and he said he wouldn't do it unless we put liners in. To put liners in will be £2500 and I need another block to do it too as well. For that price I can just buy a smith and jones block! So the object is going to be build it once and Will Pedley and Pierro both said to get the head as well....I think it was the same principal as the block, by the time I pay for machining etc and find a decent head I might as well have bought a smith and jones head too...

I think the head was around £4k inc VAT on top, I am hoping that my head can be ported to save the money. I don't doubt that the new head is better but it does add a lot to the bill.

You may have a point there. I didn't realise the head was as much as that, knew it would be pricey but that's a bit mental. I'll talk to Will and Pierro again and figure it all out. We hadn't really gone through the details properly as I haven't even driven the car yet properly. Going to get used to it with 450bhp to get used to it.

Ive just had to buy one, my big valve head cracked, by the time you source another head and then have it checked to see how much has been skimmed off it then have it worked its not too far off. The biggest upside its a brand new head never have skimming or clearance issues again.

That was my worry too. I have a tendency to buy the parts o need and find out there's problems with them. So does the S and J head come all ready flowed ported and correct sizes etc for the build? Or is it a std size and Pierro would have to do his work on it too? Therefore adding more costs?
