Escort Cabriolet SE500 Restoration
Have just bought a SE500 All Blue for a bit of a billy bargain £425 which is a runner but needs a little mini resto to bring her back to former glory. She's a June 1990 car orginally on a G plate but i believe she's worn her private plate for sometime as the windows are all etched and has 110k on the clock with most of the old MOT's to back this up. A few scratches that a good clay bar and T cut session will soon work out, has a hole in the front bumper and a few chips on the rear RS kit arches but aside from that very presentable indeed. Looks like she's had a passenger side wing at some point but bar that and on the whole a very original car ... battery and fuse box areas are mint! Has had a replacement black hood (have tonneau cover too) but this is in good order and the worst part is that the drivers seat has collapsed and the rest is a little tatty which is a shame but i live in hope of getting a replacement trim. Has some goodies fitted though including three spoke RS steering wheel, Magnex exhaust, K&N cone, chrome rocker cover, 12 disc changer though which is cool but she's going back to standard (i think?)
Plans are to get her though MOT, strip the trim out to air her and dry her out completely (heater matrix gone so pretty damp!), bring the paintwork upto scratch (including to paint and fit the spare 90spec bumper in my shed), detail the engine bay to OE, replace the horrid TSW Blade style 15" wheels with some S2 RS Turbo wheels that it left the factory with (could be tempted to put on my 16" Mondeo Si rims with 195/40/16 rubber though!), sort the trim if i can find one, re-fit spotlamps which have been removed, have got some genuine Ford new indicators to replace the clears, get some OE rubber mats front'n'rear and re-badge the back of the car to OE spec .... phew! Work cut out i think. Has a RSOC member window sticker; anyone know her?
