GoKart rebuild GSXR 1000cc finished VID NOW ADDED!!! ALSO FOR SALE £3750
Some here may remember last year when I wrote off my mates go katr trying to get an extra secong out of a double lap at the end of a long day of fun at a sprint track lol
The crash http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGNqI9JPZrg
well I've got the track booked again for end of April so rebuilds under way -
Pic's and words from my mate -
just setting up old and new so you can see the changes and i have got specs before i start cutting ,so i can add in longer chassis rails and extra support rails to take the power,
more pics before i start long bar is so i can line up both chassis
cut chassis
spigots turned down so can tap inside tubes for tight fit before welding 7 of these reqd
spigots in place
chassis tubes to extend chassis 18"
turned drilled and taped inserts for rear chassis tubes to take rear bumper
rear inserts in place
this saves alot of work with hack saw
all tacked together after a lot of checking and double checking
pic with rear axle in place to check its all square and true, the tubes next to it are for the next bit of the chassis to stop flex and to give a bit of side impact protection which you will see on the next lot of pics
thats it for now.
More updates soon

you can see center bearing holder which will have mtg plate welded to both tubes below it
hubs on axle and wheels ready for fitting

looking wide now
this is what you call a short chain ,shorten,d down gsxr 1000 chain
starting axle centre suport mtg plate
1" hole to take centre bearing
mtg now cut ready for tacking
centre mtg finished
this is the small power plant
2004 gsxr 1000cc with only 4000 miles on it
fuel injection
just offering up to locate engine mtg
some were close to position
mtg for engine side plates only 3 mm thick so need some strengthing plates
strengthing plates ready to weld in place
now welded
engine mtg made and welded on
engine on rear mtg with good old block of wood up front
as you can see the engine is well back
chain in line
throtle bodies and injectio set up
electrics to be sorted when rest of stuf bolted on
one off header tank
titanium down pipes cut and rewelded into shape then wraped to stop cooking your back
:thumbup1:
down pipes fitted you can even still change oil filter with out droping down pipes
works its way round everything
into this carbon race can very light
spits flame out on over run
not sure this means the kart or the exhaust

its gear'd the same as the bike so it should do about 180 mph
if you are mad enough and revs to 12.500 rpm with about 170, 180bhp with remap and end can, at flywheel ,
on the last outing was getting to 5th gear and 10,500 rpm down curbourgh sprint track and still another gear to go , but over the bumps it was just lifting enough to allow wheels to spin so when came back down the wheels still spinning ment you were driffting at about 130/140mph,realy great fun tryin to keep it in line.

i love the idea of these as the are very fast but they are also very dangerous, my opinion is (from a bloke into bikes and knows sod all about go carts) is that these need some suspension, there is no give over even little bumps and with this kind of bhp per ton its gonna make it one scary ride.
is there not a way of making a pivvoting chassis so the front and rear can flex a bit all be it not independatly left and right, just back and front slight movement from the center part of the chassis?
it will give it that slight movement these need to not be lethal imo.
even if its just some rubber that compresses a bit over bumps to allow movement.
if i wind my r1 suspension up rock hard it skips about and handles crap, if its got movement its perfect

when all mock ups finished chasis will be off to powder coaters and all body pannels etc will be off to paint
youll all love the paint choice aswell, just to note, I will not be driving it again this year as a few have asked
I had my fun last year, its not any faster this year just rebuilt on new improved chasis and better finishing done and me driving it this year would be asking for trouble as it will be for sale after testing session end of the month

Just to let you know this kart handled fine around curbourgh sprint track i cudnt fault it on track, before kev stuffed it in the bank,And it will again after this rebuild, the low tyre presures help with small bumps
it is so much fun you dont care ,about anythin els well i dont anyway,it is just abit wild when you mess about doin donuts and stuff
