Default Here I go again. Another MK3 project. It lives

My never ending love for MK3's has caused me to buy another one. After selling my silver shell to Muz I had a load of tricky bits to put on another. This one came up already turbo'd but not very well to be honest, the wiring was/is a mess and the engine was pissing water from the pump. So I set about putting on the bits I had been collecting. Heres the spec;
Full steel CVH 1600 Field/NMS spec
T34 used to be Ollies of NMS
3" stainless and titanium exhaust
Air injectors
GRS FMIC + Pace alloy rad
Tarox 6 pots and cossie rear brakes
Coilovers all round
Poly bushes and S1 ARB and v'techics g'box mounts, Soon to be MEF 6 linked rear (cheers Jonny). Alloy front top mounts, soon on the rear when I get chance to Fit the turrets.
Full fuel cell, twin pumps, swirl pot etc.
P8 management inc anti lag, coil packs, pectel board, boost pot'r, 3 bar MS, greens etc etc.
Anyway enough text time for the pics.

Thats all for now, just got to get the new vernier and cam pick up fitted then its turn key time. If anyone is in the Notts area and fancies giving me a hand doing that let me know, I din't fancy cocking it up this close to the finish.
Cheers jon

No pal it ran like a sack of poo though. I need to a grow a pair and get stuck in. My so called pals have done nothing but let me down. Mart of Mart rs fame who bought your engine was coming over on Sunday but over night we had about 6" of snow so that put a stop to that.

Well it was crunch time last night and after tightening some nuts (not as tight as mine went I can tell you) I put some fuel in and gave it a turn over. Mart RS turned up with his mrs Kim in the evo 8 (traitor!!) to support and help. At first it did nothing then started to fire at the wrong time, so I checked the gaps and reversed the polarity on the crank sensor. She spluttered and farted but just wouldn't catch. Kim noticed a very strong smell of petrol so a quick look under the car showed a massive puddle of go juice. It was running out of my exhaust joints!! It seems my WRC pump is flooding the fook out of the engine.
So I'm now very happy cos I'm sure with a fuel pressure reduction it'll catch and run as she was trying but there was so much fuel in the bores the plugs were wet through.
Any advice on the best way to get the pressure correct would be useful.
More updates tomorrow I hope. Oh apart from I picked up my 3 door rims with R888's on them. Cheers Tim.

even with a 10 bar pump it should hold the correct fuel pressure if the regulator is ok,

what fuel reg is on it? you want a cossie 4x4 ideally or a proper aeromotive jobby,

is the fuel return blocked in any way?

I don't know what reg is on it. My mate has a spare so I'll stick that one on and give it another go.
All the fuel system is brand new so should be all ok.

Get it changed before you run it again mate as you may hydraulic the engine completely by the sounds of it,

my pressure reg collapsed and stuck shut once and hydraulic'd the engine, filled it from sump to inlet with fuel when trying to start it petrol pissing out of everywhere.....even the intercooler had about 10 quids worth in it,

If there was that much fuel it was coming out the exhaust your sump will be full of it Jon. Mine was when the MAP sensor shorted out and was putting full fuel at idle. Bit of a shit mate

Well I dropped the oil out this morning and it was like piss, full of petrol. I checked the fuel pressure too and it showed a little under 3 bar while cranking, I'm told this is bang on. Yet the f***ing thing still won't catch and is still drowning the plugs in petrol. Ideas and help req'd please anyone.

At TDC the bottom 4 lug sensor needs a pip directly under the CPS. The cam phase sensor at TDC needs the first of the two teeth 3 teeth back on the vernier. Make sure the phase disc has the lugs overhanging on the front, as if it's back to front like mine was the phase sensor wont pick the signal up. Fuel pressure is fine. Does it soind like it trying to catch or just it just turn over?

Yeah I think I have them like that. Bottom one is deffo under the sensor. The cam disk pick up has the first lug in line with the left hand edge of the cam sensor mounting bracket. I'm sure thats how the pictures showed it. Do you still have them on your pc somewhere?

I don't Jon, but it sounds like you have it right. The disk needs to be level with the 3rd tooth back. IE when the cam is at TDC with the woodruff key pointing to 6 o clock the tooth directly under the sensor is 0, next tooth is 1 back, next tooth 2 back and lastly 3rd back.

Have you checked all gaps are 6-8 tho? And I meen all gaps. Have you checked EVERY pip on the crank has the right gap? As it has been known for them to be different and require filing down.

It looks like a new loom, so can't see you having any wiring problems?

Yeah thats right. Although my bracket isn't actaully one of Janos. I think jano's are slightly bigger, so might not be on the edge like mine is. More like this. Just IGNORE WHERE THE TDC ARROW IS AS THIS CHAP GOT IT WRONG. This is just to show where it should look in relation to the bracket
.

Cheers pal. Its a little different but not massively. I'll go back to the workshop tonight and check everything again. The only thing that worries me is the amount of fuel it seems to be dumping into the bores. It does try to catch I just the think the plugs get drenched. Got some Denso plugs on the way so I'll wack them in. I just want to hear it run.

To get it running 100% the sensor might need moving backwards or forwards a mm at a time. But if all the sensors are fine, your gettign fuel and spark, it will run.

if its filled the oil with fuel and is soaking the plugs, then there is a fuel delivery issue....pressure might be fine but sounds like the reg is fucked or an injector is stuck open!
