Default S2 rs turbo resto, **LET THE DETAILING BEGIN!!!!**

Hi there,

I bought this car last summer, had a bit of fun and then got bored of 180brake and the mfi. Im also tired of the bumpy horrible low as shit ride so it getting the underside sorted with new polybushes all round and some powder coating.

The aim is to get the car done in time for central day!

Was really impressed with the shell, there has been a patch in each of the front footwells and i think the car has had a patch on the chassis leg, plan is to chop the patches out and redo them nicely. I took the bodykit off and expected lots of rust was amazed! the passenger side was mint and the drivers side needs an outer sill section at the back. The interior is out (forgot to take photos but was again very impressed by the shell).

Underside has been well waxoiled, which i was fairly happy about, just going to be a nightmare to strip.

Kit off

Drivers side, not as good but far far better than i expected

The bodge don't even think the bellend took the arch off to do it, new sill section on order

Rear bumper off and looking good, quite like them without a rear bumper......

Front in the air

Exhaust off, 4" tip scorpion with a 3" bore if any one want to make an offer, i am after a 2.5" bore and either 3.5 of 4" tip so if you have one give me a PM

A quick degrease and jetwash in preparation for proper stripping on sunday.

End of day 1, such a pain it gets dark so soon! cheers for looking and i will post up day 2 in a minute.

Rob,

Day2

Was planning on getting the rear suspension and fuel tank out today, but doing it solo means it takes forever, hoping to get a few friends on it in a while to help remove all the old underseal and wax oil but dont want to run out of beer tokens before then.

don't you love bodges

The car is going back to standard body wise so these are destined for the bin

Random photos

Suspension off thank fuck, going to take friday off work to remove all the bushes, get the tank out and the rear brake proportioning plate ready for the powder coaters on sat

Nearly ready to get funky with a wire brush any pointers would be much appreciated!

End of day2, really need to get a move on if im going to make the pod in april. Next weekend should see the engine out and stripped. The aim is an honest 250brake with the same torque.

Cheers all

Cheers mate, should be okay once its done!

EFI inlet came the other day, just need to find an efi head or spacer plate. Would you keep the frst throttle body or change to a cosworth tb?

Also, any one got any idea if i can still get the loom connectors? Specifically the connector on the inlet manifold for the air/coolant and injectors....

Cheers

Bought

Standard alloys
Standard 88spec seats (car came with buckets)
Standard steering wheel
305LPH cosworth fuel pump

Next to buy

Gizzmo boost controller
WB lambda and controller
MSII V3 Kit
Bush Set
New Drums and Shoes
New Front Disks and pads
Injectors (maybe VXR)
EFI Head
Random Gaskets

And after looking at Twins 3door thread thinking i may have to get a few bits zinc plated!

After the bits have been taken to the powder coaters on sat, sunday should see the engine and box out.

Cheers for now

Thanks for all the comments every one

Spent sat going to Essex to pick up two front recaro seats, both looked really good, then i gave them a clean

The amount of dirt that came off was nasty... the second photo shows what the rag was like when i started, and when i finished.

Start proper stuff today, bloody wet and cold

Got the tank out, looked pretty good underneath as well!

Was really happy with the condition of all the bolts they all came out easy which was pleasant (for a change)

Annoyed that the brake fluid has leaked onto the servo and taken the paint off, thinking of converting to a mondeo one etc.

Caliper/disk off,

Off side caliper being a bitch, solution, man bar

Ball joints split

Front arb off,

Rear proportioning valve support plate off and in the powder coating pile again looks fair underneath

The 22 year old bolts holding the valves on were pretty sweet too

Back to bed

Thats it for today folks, more to come tomorrow as i have the day off work. Taking a load of gear to the powder coaters, then to the ford dealership to order a load of clobber then home to take the coil overs off to sent back to AVO for rebuilding.

Think engine stripping begins when this is done woop.

All for tonight, knackered and cold

Rob,

if thats wax oil on the underneath then gunk dissolves it then you rinse it off with white spirit under pressure if you can but you need to leave it for a bit to really really get stuck in try a patch to see if it's of any use to you, the watery gunk not the foamy shit and normally have a cheap pan brush on hand to aggitate it if need be

Just bought a V3 MS1 ECU (to be upgraded to MS2)
A boost controller (Gizzmo)
A wide band Lambda controller (AEM)
Anti roll bar mounts (new, look nice!)

And my wallet is feeling loose and sore due to this mornings mammoth raping sesion. Just off to ford to order some more fucking parts Sloppy seconds for the wallet
