I'm presuming your on a cable shift MTX now, have you managed to retain the S2 centre console? An pics or tips?

I'm getting ready to strip my engine bay ready for MTX conversion.

Yeah on cables now. Tbf mate it's all pretty straight forward my mtx is out of a mk2 mondeo with starter on the rear witch is what I wanted getting the starter out of the way. The cables bolt down just need to Weld the hole up where the old stick went through and drill a hole to put the cables through. Are you getting your mounts from Gary? One thing I would say before welding any mounts on is check your inner cv joins clear your chassis where your bottom arm bolt to.

Mine car is going to Gary to have all the mounts welded in and the chassis leg sorted.

Blew the RST box last week so have decided its time to upgrade, just need to strip everything out the bay now ready for Gary.

Interesting read, certainly packing a fair punch does your box have the lsd like the focus box?

Also interested in how you mounted the cable shift tower, i'm in the process of mounting it in my mk3 s1 and have had to lower the floor pan to keep the centre console.

No I haven't fitted a dif yet it doesn't drive to bad for not having one in tbf. I didn't do anything really just welded the hole up and bolted the selector down just had to drill two more holes to bolt it down. If I get in the garage this weekend I'll try and get some pictures.

No I'm going to put one up soon I just keep thinking that the story would be over very quick and it would probably be deleted from the passionford server before I managed another update

Also I've went for a black top two piece sump. I also welded a outlet for the return from my oil breather.

That looks very much like the pattern lower sump pan I have on mine, no matter what sump washer I use it always weaps a bit, might change it to a genuine while the engine is out for mtx conversion.

Or really I'll have to see. A new genuine is not cheap mind I was going to get one but then I would have been worried about drill it lol.

Hi mate I would of put the return from the breather higher up in the cast alloy part as if it's sat below oil level it will build up in the pipe and maybe cause heavy breathing i.e. Smoke on full chat.
I know it's not the same but my engine was smoking like fook on scs dyno as the turbo return was level so was building up in the pipe and burning in the turbo .
Basically very easy for things to get blocked up.

Cheers paul

Thanks but the way I understand it is that if the breather returns under the oil line as there is no crankcase pressure allowing the oil to return easily. My turbo isn't below the oil line but isn't the cosworth yb turbo return below?

I have my turbo oil drain above oil level, breather below. The original FRS breather system had a non-return valve in it so crankcase pressure couldn't come back up and only allowed oil to drain. Going aftermarket means that valve is gone so I always thought oil breather drain to below oil level in sump.
