Default Cortina mk5 2dr 2.8i

Acquired this back in the summer

Been acquiring bits for a while now, the plan is to EFI it.... (parts from an earlier mk3 2.8 Granada before they went 2.9)

engine now

efi manifold and plenum

get it running and on the road asap, then later add the turbo technics bits i got from the sierra earlier in the summer and finally add a programmable ecu

Also want to do away with the pas pump that lurks at the front of the engine, horrible looking thing!!

early days on research on how to do it but a saxo electric pas pump looks promising, link for further reading

http://www.turbosport.co.uk/showthre...o+pumps&page=2

The TT turbo normally sits on the n/s of a sierra or carpi but the cortina is really tight for space by the inner wing on the n/s so i recon i will have to lose the large brake servo and go for some sort of pedal box and fit the turbo on the o/s

the header tank will also need to be relocated otherwise it will a molten piece of plastic after the first run!!

Managed to get a bit done on this over the weekend, got myself a LSD from a 2.8i special which will fit in a H/D cortina axle. The axle needed to come from a 2.0 or a 2.3 mk3 cortina and some of the later estates i believe. The Salisbury axle fitted to most mk4/5 is will not accept this LSD unit in case anybody is thing about doing the upgrade.

I'm getting the axle and LSD sent up to Tom at Fostek in the next couple of weeks, so this weekend i need to remove the axle and replace it with a 1.6 Salisbury that i pickup on ebay before Xmas. The car needs to be rolling in case i need to move it for the engine and gearbox removal happening soon.

Temp 1.6 axle late frid night

Started early sat morning, it was freezing all day dont think it got above 1 degree

Atlas axle from a 2.3 i believe because of the ratio 3.44

Needed a bit of heat on a few of the stubborn nuts but eventually we got there.....

The scissor lift table was a God send on this job, will use it again to help me drop the front sub frame, engine and gearbox

The air horns are gonna have to go to make room for the I.C, planning on fitting a T.Technics kit to this at some point

I would fit the 24v cossie V6, goes well in a Cortina

The only real mod is to modify the heater box, needs cutting and shaping so its sits flatter not at a angle to clear the wider head.

I had a 2dr MkV, fitted the 24v and then a cossie turbo lump

I would have another, great fun lol

nearly a yr on and not much further forwards, im shit i know....

big thanks to Crashley who let me scavenge the mk3 Capri that was over at the farm, found all the parts i needed for the front light conversion and i picked up a cheap grille.... need to cut down the grille and trim some bodywork on the front panel for the inner lamps to fit nicely, its only a small step but bit by bit....

also won this......

for a score.....

was up the crashley farm again and was pleased to c the capri had not made to the scrap yet...... i wanted the loom and to cut out the panel that holds the wiring plugs - they are the same on the cortina's. The wiring is close but not exact. The reason i wanted the loom is because i want to hide the loom in the inner wings and need to extent the loom as it would be too short..... and i needed the panel because i want the plugs to come from the inner wing and no longer the bulk head......

this is wot i left with......

below is the lighting loom with its own relay setup, so glad i got this as this would have been a nightmare to makeup, god knows wot setup is in that silver box

the mess that is the current loom
