1987 Escort Mk4 - 2nd donor arrived .. Turbo Time !
Hi,
I`m looking and replying on this forum for a while now, and thought its time to post a thread of my Escorts.
Ive got a 1987 Escort Mk4 1.4 as a daily, and a 1974 Escort Mk1.
The Mk1 will get a resto soon.
This thread will be about my Mk4.
Bought a couple of months ago, as a 1.4, with RS Turbo skirts, 15" from autostyle, rearspoiler, sebring exhaust box and no interior.
Was lowered 40mm, but has just only one little rust on the right rear arch, rest of the car is sollid
But as i like Old Skool, Rockabilly i made more like my style.
RST Skirts, Sebring, Spoiler taken off and put it on some 15" 7 Spoke`s.
Some red/smoke taillights came in
Also removed the strips out of the bumpers:
I love base model Escort, the non-painted bumpers, no skirts etc.
After driving it for a couple of months, got myself a 1.6 CVH,
Fiesta Mk2 XR2 gearbox, and some PU for the front.
Painted the rockercover, but it wasnt the color i tought it was..
More Lila then purple
Then converted the stock dash to one that has the rev counter in it.
Also got the RS front lip
But afterall..
I love the basic look, sleeper look..
So got rid of the RS lip, spots that where on, white indi`s, Sebring and the 7 Spoke`s.
Picked up some 16" Citroen C5 Steelies, set of ambers, Cherry Bomb exhaust, and some original mudflaps for the front.
This is how it looks atm:
Thnx for watching

Looks quite a same as my own mk4 Escort Laser. I love your rims <3
Does C5 steel rims fit without modifications in mk4 Escort? Does that central(?) hole fit in escort's hubs?
I've planned to buy C5 or Stilo steel rims but i want my rims in perfect balance without any shaking.

The rims fit fine, no modifies needed. Clear the arches at the rear with 1 - 1.5 cm to spare, and in the front i`ve got also about 1.5 cm clearance when steering at max.
Centre hole are slightly bigger, so youve gotta look for a little centre-ring.

Here`s an update.
Got a dash in with rev counter.
Had a couple of dails, so got the best of them all, and made a nice set.
Converted the wiring, so it would fit.
The result, and with a steering wheel that ive had fitted:
Also got myself a exhaust manifold today, of a mk3 xr3i says RS on the sticker, but its XR3i following the part number though.
So now i can get rid of mine with the Puls-Air systeem.. dont need that
Fitted a XR3i/RST handbrake console:
Also got some Mk3 escort L centre caps and wheelnut covers for the steelies
Will get some pics on soon, first gotta fit them right

Got something today, a free Mk4
1.3 C (most cheap version)
It aint beautiful.. well not at all
Broken lights, bumpers, and rotten..
Wheel bearings makin more noise then the radio, and interior has had its best time..
But its a Base Model, and i love it
But its a good donor for some spare`s.
It has Koni shocks, luxe dash and some nice parts i can use for my daily and my Mk1.
So, gonna strip it, its rotten, and wrecked.. so good donor
A pic:
So tomorrow gonna take it apart.
Esrockabilly gets some of his parts, to make it better.
Still a shame to see another base model going to the scrapper..

After converting it from a 1.4 carb, into a 1.6 carb..
Want more power
So bought a Mk4 1.3.. that has all RS Turbo inside
So gonna strip it, make it all tidy and then put it in the grey one
Pics off the rotten donor;
Battery tray, sills, wheel arches, front panel and some more spots are completly rotten.
Even the headlights fall apart if you look at them
