Did they give you the gearbox/engine intermediate plate? I had one of these boxes for my Fiesta and it was next to impossible to source the plate. It's a 2 peice plate and is discontinued now. I had to drive to Nottingham and remove one myself from a breaker car. Also the starter motor on these boxes had a unique stud pattern to the box IIRC

have now made a start on the escort
has been sat in the garage for the last 2 weeks
so far the engine is out and most of the front end is stripped
will be stripping everything off for the new shell

when i get the new shell next weekend
i am going to treat the new shell with underseal
and i am thinking of seam welding it aswell

will be fitting a supercharged 2.0 blacktop with st170 gearbox

also found this when i removed the wing
this would explain the strange noises and handling

and my daily drive

its a 2004 ford focus 1.8 tdci :Q

cheers fellas
the shell 90% stripped now just the rear end and fuel tank to remove
the new shell will be ariveing next weekend :Q :Q
the plan is to take my time with it and do it properly :bonkers:
a few pics from today
really hope someone has the shell as would be a shame to scrap it

nice and low :Q

started on it today
first i had to get it rolling so i could turn it around as it was facing the wrong way in the garage
then stripped the front end down
needs a bit of attention in a few places
but other than that the shells in very good nick and straight
battery tray is solid no rust underneath :Q
i am now on the hunt for a 2.0 zetec blacktop so i can get the mounts sorted in the engine bay then sort the rust out
then paint it

and the st box :Q

cheers fellas

when i stripped the old shell found that it was actually falling apart along the bulkhead

for the price i got the new shell for it was far better to start with something straight

new shell will be going beige

im sure the old shell is fixable but will need alot of work to get the front straight again

When the bulkhead goes that's the real escort killer I say...

My first one went so bad that the front pretty much broke off when it was jacked up for the last time! You could see daylight under the windscreen seal, and the door to wing gap was about 3 inches

Blue one looks good

now have a engine which i won off ebay lastnight and collected it within a few hours if winning
its done 65000
and is in great condition
and the best thing is got it for Ł80 :Q
today i messed around with the supercharger and bolted st gearbox on and put it in the escort ready for the mounts to made
the supercharger will fit better on this than the silvertop
as one hole lines up really well
will need to modify the manifold a little
the engine will be getting new head gasket and cambelt
might do some more tomorrow but i dont get many days off from work

might get the mounts done this weekend when my neighbours about with his welder :Q

cheers fellas gone for a rear mounted alternator

started the day by getting a new grinder which didnt work :x
so had to take that back and get another one
was pissing down all morning so got on with mounting the charger
this is only the mock up mount to but will redo it so its looks better
will also get some spacers made up aswell
fits really well
then remebered the lower sub frame bracket
which is close but clears

then went to trhe scrappy and got a rear mounted alternator off a mondeo
also grabbed the tensioner to see if that would fit aswell

got the mounts awell
is a mondeo engine mount
and focus gearbox mount
so got back and fitted the alternator
the tensioner is close aswell but fits :Q :Q
next update will be at the weekend when the mounts get welded in

Remember run the water pump anti-clockwise......, complicates belt route.
