Default Sierra Ignition "bit"

Does anyone know what the little die cast bit of metal that goes between the ignition barrel and the ignition switch is called? It turns the ignition switch when the key is in the barrel and turned. Mine has broken and is being awkward to find. Does anyone have a spare one they'd sell or know of somewhere? Failing that its a breakers jobby. Cheers people.

a) Because its for a restoration/project car. b) because someone in here might have had a similar issue and knows where to get hard to get parts as they are doing a project too. and finally c) so you could post a question with no point which is of no help to anyone.

scrap that, just seen the thread is called SIERRA ignition lol, might have one at home, will have a check tonight, if i have its yours for the cost of the postage, will reply tomorow

it's the locking tab

but i'm not sure if it's a stand alone part or part of the barrel mechanism, i know that in the past i've knocked out the 2 little pins that hold in place to remove it, but other than that, i'm not sure how you've be able to get it in or out again

obviously it's designed to not get broken in a hurry

Hold the press! Got the whole ignition/steering columb unit today from a brakers. He wouldn't sell me just the bit I needed and i couldn't get it out at the place to "forget I had it in my pocket" as I didn't have intricate tools there. You can get it out though just for info. I'm gonna replace the whole unit. The git knew it was a sod to source and would not budge on the £20, yes £20 price tag!! Cheers everyone. All free parts would be greatly appreciated too!

if you have got the key to go with it you can simply switch the ignition barrel and just slide the top bit off and swap it over, rather than remove the whole column : )

if the concertinated bit has been collapsed then it might have been in a shunt

No it hasn't collapsed, but steering lock is broken so was maybe stolen before or attempted as barrel was a bit shagged too. No matter, I'll change the lot. Got a few bits incleded for the £20.
