PassionFord Post Whore!!
I'd never have expected less than 500 so no surprise there!
Hope all goes to plan and you can get out and enjoy it next year mate, I'd like to try and get to a few events next year, hopefully I see you, would love to check out your handy work in the metal!

Marc, great pics as always.
How did you pick the spring rates for the suspension...the reason I ask is that my 205 has spam "hot rod" coilovers that were made up in the 90s to the customer spec, I hope DJM motorsports specked them but this could be wrong, I wanted to get some trick shox etc but wasn't really sure where to Start. I will probably do them when I upgrade to the 6 degree beam next year. Your shox look pretty clever.

I got spring rate info from Ali who has the bright orange fiesta jwrc cosworth, as his is the closest i can get to a car the same as mine, i cant remember the rates but i went on his experiance and advice,
My shocks are 20 year old group a coilovers with new parts so really they are 1 of the worst parts of the car and will be changed at some point, i would like some 3 way adjustable when money allows but il work with what i have for now and just keep swapping out springs until i find the balance i am happy with
Thanks
Marc

Sorted the play in the steering today
Worked out the length I needed for the lower steering shaft to suit the new joints,
Cut the shaft and drilled/turned it down to a snug fit then welded fully around with 2 plug welds for extra safety
Welded ready to fit
Back in with no play in the steering at all

hi marc just another quick question if you dont mind lol , why have you got a bias adjuster on your hand brake when youve got a balance bar adjuster on your pedal box , is it to adjust pressure when handbrake is pulled?
cheers paul

Washer tank finished now
I just needed an outlet to go to the washer pump and as I could not get a small 6mm one to match without waiting till after the Xmas break I thought I'd make 1
Finished
I wasn't happy with the messy looking weld around the filler neck so decided to go back over with a large weave weld, not really tried this before but certainly looks better than it did and will look better once painted satin black
Thanks

Probably nothing like how you can weld but still learning
It looks alright I think had a lot to build up in size difference from stat to OD of fittings so just done 1 big weave, basically practising all different ways of welding all different things,
Cast isn't easy to weld nice

lol - looks like some of mine at times - sometime I can be really good, others I am just shite.
Just practise and machine setup, I don't weld from month to month so you forget.
Mark (MK Motorsport) I have a front diff job I would like you to look at for me, can you make driveshafts also?

you should have preheated it ,it will probably crack or have warped if it was structural i would bin it ,there is i lot more to welding than just sticking bits together lol, theres right settings ,rod ,shielding gas ,preheating ,prep etc its very easy to have a failure if you dont get it right mate ,on that housing you shouldn't have had to keep going over and over with weld

Hi Mark
I didn't have to keep going over with weld
But the large an20 fittings are a lot bigger than the inlet/outlet pipes and looked worse with a huge step, also they will have a bit of pressure on them when done up with spanners so building up with weld although maybe not as astheticly pleasing will give a lot more support I thought

I had my 2wd thermostat housing modded too dash type fittings by a very well know race car builder who's welding is second too none. He said the cast alloy it was made of was poor quality and terrible to weld also alloy is poorus and it had suffered years of contamination.
