Bigger garage would be awesuminim

Would love a garage where I could have work space around the whole car, enough room for doors open like,

Maybe one day

The trailer would be carrying the huge amount of cash that you would be offering me I assume

Seriously though, it would take massive money to make me part with this car

Cars looking great mate I always keep an eye on this thread.
One thing I don't get though why does you engine sit so high? I always thought the best place for the engine would be as low as possible to help the handling.
Is there a reason or did the people who built the shell make a boo boo.
Where are you getting the engine done?

Great work love it, keep the updates coming.

Andy...

Cheers Dave

Andy - the engine doesn't sit high mate, the shell is dropped low over the engine so it's actually the opposite to what your thinking, And is why the engine sits high in the bay, if the engine was positioned low in the bay then to get the correct driveshaft angles the car would have to be high,

The engine was mounted as low as possible whilst keeping all driveshaft angles acceptable then the shell was fabricated over the engine/suspension as low as possible without ruining the geometry, hence why my bonnet has to have cut outs for the top mounts to clear as the suspension points have been made high up in the shell,

Hope that makes sense, when I get the engine back in I will measure from top of rocker cover to the floor and compare it to the same measurement on a normal cossie

The engine is being built by Tommy @ FIELD MOTORSPORT,

I will hopefully being picking by block up from the machine shop tomorrow, I had it 6 studded but was not happy with the outer 4 studs being standard due to poor condition threads so I dropped it back to have the other 4 long studded and the water pump modified to suit

Thought there must of been a reason for it. So your drive shafts ect sit pretty level when the cars on the floor?
Attention to detail is great mate.

Regards andy.

Me too mate

Went and collected my block today from the engineers after having the other 4 head bolt changed to long studs, the water pump modded to suit and a thread tapped into block for oil return

So now i have a good 10 studded 200 block to start with

Rear oil return to block tapped ready for Aeroquip fitting

Now ready to be de-burred, cleaned etc then measured up and sent for a slight bore to suit the new cosworth racing pistons

Yeah, Tommy has everything from me to build the engine up completely apart from the turbo ecu and loom, which should be sorted by the time the tall block is all built up, he actually has a T6 and loom there for me funds permitting

T6, talk to rainbird, he has one in at the moment with loom going off his site, might be of interest for £850

The problem is with T6 that there is so many variations of software and updates that a cheap t6 can become an expensive 1 so as Tommy comes across them quite often he knows exactly which ones are worth using so il buy through him if I get 1 and his price was the same as mikes

Looks a very good ecu but not cheap and if I was to go for that price range I would go for the life racing F88 purely as Tommy knows them inside out,

The hose is the proper Eaton Aeroquip high pressure power steering hose and steel fittings

It is only needed on the feed from pump to rack as that is the only line with high pressure but being fussy I done the whole lot in the same hose so it matched

Looking great Marc.

TBH the last thing I'd use would be a T6 simply as its old and second hand, there are better, equally as good ecus out there for good money IMO

That said its not exactly crap but just seems odd that everyone seems hung up on using a out of date ecu on an engine that is using todays technology, why not compliment it with a modern ecu.

I totally see what your saying James, and i have looked at other options but for the money i would still rather stick with the T6 if i can not afford the F88 yet, the T6 does all i will need and more and is an ecu Tommy rates very highly and can map with his eyes shut, no point picking an ecu for the same money that he doesn't rate or particularly like when he is going to be the 1 to bench dyno it & map it etc

If funds allow i will get a better ecu at a later date, the T6 is fine for now and still a very good ecu for the price im getting it, so if i have any spare cash it is going towards a box/gearkit and front diff

Just discovered this thread through a random Google search and decided to sign up to the forum to post my thoughts.

Absolutely love what you are doing here. I'm a huge rallycross fan and, of all the modern rallycross Supercars, the widearch Fiestas are by far my fave. The idea of a road legal rallycross style Fiesta has long appealed to me: glad to see I'm not the only one!

Looks like you are almost there, can't wait to see the finished product!
