1998 Mondeo Ghia X, Project Last Chance Saloon
Well, I guess I should do a build thread seeing as, well, I'm building a car....
As you can see I'm fairly new to the site, but I've been lurking for a while now. As such, I thought it'd be a good place to post this and see what sort of response it gets.
So, what is it?
It's a Mondeo 2.0 Zetec propelled, luxury filled Ghia X...saloon! It's my current project car on Performance Ford Magazine. The car itself is okay, it's not groundbreaking, or mint, but it's enough of a car for £450. It goes, it stops and it starts, and as far as I can tell, it's okay in every other area too. It does have it's niggles though, a lower arm is on its way out and a wheel bearing is making a bit of noise, but I'll remedy them soon enough.
At the moment it's my daily hack, but when the rent and test run out in June she'll be off the road and on the hot side of an angle grinder....before I explain, have a snap or two.....
...snazzy eh?
So, the plans. Well, in a nutshell, it's going rear wheel drive. ;D I've held out on starting this thread for one reason, I wanted to be in a position where I knew I could make this happen, and seeing as I was given a Sierra Sapphire this morning, meaning I have all the RWDified floorpan and chassis I need, it seemed like a good time to start this.
Engine wise, I'm planning to use the existing Zetec, but just turn it through 90 degrees and strap a turbo to it. I'm aiming for 250bhp or so, as anything else would be mental. I'm planning to keep it road legal after all.
The look I'm going for will be as it is, but slammed over set of Image 19inch alloys. It might sound a bit chav-tastic, but trust me, it'll look good...or at least I hope so!
Anyway, I just wanted this to be an intro to it, but as and when more stuff happens I'll update this. So, read Performance Ford and watch this space.....
