Been working on it ALL day instead of going Vauxhall Day at Santa Pod! Still at least its a lot nearer to being finished!
Glad to find it went in ok, thanks to Tom @ Jekyll and Hyde for the fabrication work, though still had to cut the fuck out the sump to fit the gearbox bearer!

Also tidied all the wiring and wired the gauges properly:

Too much work for now, even with the custom driveshafts and mounts I have it fucks everything up cos the engien has to come 30mm closer to the front, which means rad in boot and turbo over gearbox etc... So for now to get it on the road I ma just whacking a stage 2+ CTS box in.

Sorted cambelt out as well, took about 10mins

Piece of piss when I looked at it properly, silvertop belt and used assorted tensioners. Fits and works well enough

Actually did some work on the car today. First time in months as I lost interest in a little when I realised a standard BC box would cause problems on the standard MK1 gearbox cradle because it sits further towards the middle of the car, meaning the 3" downpipe couldnt pass under the sump!

So it meant either changing the manifold to Area 6 style, which I didnt want to do or remounting the box using mk2 Fiesta stuff.

But a couple of friends are doing ST170 box conversions so decided this was a better option if I had to mess around with fitting anyway, but then other plans led me back to trying the MTX I have sitting here ready with the custom drive shafts. Also picked up a Focus RS clutch VERY VERY cheap so that settled it.

However, using a MTX on mk1 or mk2 Fiesta meant spacing the engine forward as the chassis leg didnt clear the diff/inner CV joint. So was wondering how much room id have and guessed Id probably have to go rad in boot.

So pulled out the old box, and got the MTX fitted up with a spacer on the engine bolted up so I knew how far it would come forward...and its not that much! Can keep the rad where it is! Chuffed as it means all I need to do is cut a little more chassis, have it braced back up again and make a mount!

Progress at last!

I had my ST170 engine moved back in my S2, as there's loads of room at the back and could do with more at the front. But, when we came to but the FocusRS box in, it needed to go forward again as the inner cv fouled the steering rack...

Hello

Would you do some detailed photos of the Inlet!
And from wich model is that Inlet!

What can you say about the inlet, port diameters and stuff?

I am also doing a lot of work on a ST170 and this might be intresting!

Cheers Mark ( www.ST2000.de )

Cutchee - Aiming for a reliable 330-350bhp or so? Plus 100bhp shot of gas on a maximiser.

that box looks mighty familier!

couple of bits of info to give you the heads up si, you may get away with tilting the engine backwards slightly and moving it forwards less, like in a pug 205, if you follow me?

you are going to have a ballache getting the gearlinkage right. youre probably going to need to mod the floor under the bulkhead to get the whole lot to clear. i didnt spend to much time fucking about with mine but it wasnt very nice to use as the rod from the bottom of the linkage to the gearbox is at quite a major angle,. id look at making a linkage from scratch instead of just modding the mondeo one to fit.

them shafts are 1/2 mondeo 1/2 mk2 fiesta FYI. you may have issues with one being to long as the engine wont be sat in the same place. clutch cable was just a mk5 130bhp escort one and fitted the pedal and box fine. i dunno if the release bearing is in there still or not, but thats from a mk5 130bhp escort too, and worked fine with the rs focus clutch i was running in it.

if i think of anything else ill let you know! good luck!

Cheers for that mate! Very helpful, its going to my mates garage tomorrow to have the final welding bits done to fit the box. Still got the release bearing but looks like I need a new one so thanks for the heads up.

It actually looks like it has slightly MORE room than a mk2 as I had the engine, box and shafts lined up using only a 10mm spacer and might even get away with not using one at all. Which is a result.

Ill post pics up tomorrow when the weldings complete.

Cheers again

Radders - Mk1 seems to be a little more in places and a little less room in others.

Got the final welding done today so the box fits. Going to fit up the engine properly and weld in the mount asap, then its good to go. Hope to get it mapped by christmas if not just after depending on how busy I am of course.

Clarke did the welding today and seriously thinking of giving him some money to finish it off if I cant find the time!
