Loving the neat touch of the pipes being run in the sills,is it due to space or just a clean look?

Thanks Lads,

Dale, i run the pipes in the sills as i didnt want them hanging below the floor looking odd and being vulnerable.
They would be in the way inside, the tunnel will be full or gearbox prop and exhausts, so it was the only option.

Got to find a neat way of securing them in the sills yet and getting the pipes (copper or rubber) over the wheel wells neatly to the rad in the boot floor.

How about filling sill with fireproof expanding foam? Will secure pipes and stop ingress of water/moisture...

That's the way im doing it ,
Im spraying waxoil in the sills then expanding foam in I few key places
I will also put drain holes either side of the expanded foam.

I had considered expanding foam, but i have seen first hand the severe rust formed when its been used on an old Chevy i helped restore.

Is fireproof stuff impervious to water then???

I might just cable tie through a couple of holes in the inner sill inside the car.

Ive also asked someone to look at a waxoil that will not melt and run out of the sill when the copper pipe gets hot,

Could be embarassing leaving a puddle of waxoil on the floor every time you park up

I waxoiled and put expanding foam in my Cortina rear lower quarters..

It rusted out.

Would be ok on a new car that's be electro coated.

Trouble is when the pipes get hot then cold it would cause a build up of condensation in the sills. and as you say wax when hot will just run out.

Tricky problem to sort.

MMM
May need a rethink then !
I would expect there to be quite as lot of condensation.

I wouldn't want to see your dolly rusting or the V8 tina.

Can those water pipes not be run in the car?

Wow, truly awesome build! To stop the condensation on the copper pipework it will need lagging. (I'm a steam boiler/gas engineer by trade).
Best of luck with the build, can't wait to see her running!

Thanks Si and closeshave

Would using ABS solvent weld pipe eliminate the condensation issue and take the heat of the engine coolant ???

Thanks
