H242GWC (SOLD) - 3dr Cosworth D22 BLC (Engine Bay Complete and Detailed)
Some of you may remember my RST S2 (H242 GWC). The time had come to sell it as i had been wanting a white 3dr for a while. I had spent a small fortune on the turbo trying to get it the way i wanted it and was pleased when i had finished it, i was in two minds wat to do, get more horse out of it or sell and get a 3dr, i decided to sell it as i was not keen on putting big power through the front wheels and to be honist wanted to go to the next level.
Once i had sold the RST to a good mate of mine the search was on to find a minter, i found alot out there but were just not clean enough, i made up my mind to get a good one you would need to spend between 10-12k. After looking through pages and pages on the net, i found one on ebay in staffordshire that looked promising, after speaking the chap on the phone it sounded good, i received some picutures and decided to go ahead with it.
8.00am on a cold october morning we set of from Fife, Scotland to Staffordshire with the trailer, van and a few mates. As soon as we arrived there, it started pishing it down and i really did not want to get the car wet considering how clean the chap had said it was on the phone, he opened the garage and there it was, i looked extreamly clean and judging by his response he was also not keen on taking it out, but it had to be done.
With a detailed look over it really was what i was after, bolsters were mint, 2mm crack in dash but was repairable and had only done 87,000 miles with everystamp on service book, stacks of paper work with the car - which was very detailed - really reminded me of my turbo. After looking through ther paper i noticed the car was reg with RSOC as concourse when the car had just ticked over 75K, i could see it was not the case now, but very close.
A deal was done, we got the 3dr on the trailer and headed back up north to fife with the weather getting worse as well. Arrived back to the garage about midnight and put the 3dr away.
My plan is to try and get it back to as close to concourse as possible by working through every part painting, replacing or cleaning it.
I think that non modified 3drs are becoming rarer by the day and really do look there best when left alone - so that is my plan !
The pictures show the progress so far.
H242 GWC - RST that was sold.
D22 BLC - The 3DR
Having first look at it at Russ's house
Me looking rather gay next to the car !!
Car arrives home
Rsoc seat covers added and paper autoglym matts
The alterations begin - removing non original parts
2-3 hours per side of scrubbing and healthy amounts of petrol
And the result
Began striping the front and working on the bay
After painting rad shield and intercooler
Will update more, lots of other progress has been made, will get pics up later
Cheers
Ben

Car looks in very good condition,
Why is it 3dr's always look better in white than any other colour but 500's look better in black??? strange.
500's do look awesome, but always like the 3dr in general in white - orange hooters against the white looks the business. Seen the build thread for yours and it looks superb, CXNs look great on it and the 500 bits.

not updated in a while now, had problems with cylinder head and tracking down these bloody original parts. Iv had to send the cylinder head off to get a crack welded up - someone had drilled to far for one of the bolts for the exhaust manifold and went into a water jacket so i took the oppertunaty to get the head fully recond and painted, as well as inlet and rocker cover- just waiting on it coming back. will post pics up of full update when back.
cheers

heres more update pics
engine bay before touched
began to remove bits and clean
After months of tracking down a headertank, managed to find one through in glasgow from a chap called gary, was a very clean one, was slightly distracted by his own car
concourse 14K RS500
anyway got the headertank back and trial fitted as well as other bits, strut top caps and bolt cover, new ignition leads, done away with the chrome tat.
pics of inlet, engine, hoses all cleaned and detailed
noticed this is well, so another thing to deal with
dealership plates arrived aswell, managed to track down original garage from when the car was sold - got dealership decal made as well. total chuffed with them
painted the meterial part that sits at the rear of the bay
more pics to follow with new parts arriving.

the car was ex-concourse so its not bad underneath still - but that is next years project to get all that stripped and redone.
RS500 has got to fetch at least £30K, amazing how original that car is.
cheers
