Lol My brother is painting the car for me! hes a painter at bmw in aberdeen,we are painting the engine bay, inside and underneath at the garage then taking it up to his work to paint the car.
I bought stuff off a website called frosts restoration! i was told to use marine clean to get the surface totally clean then use metal ready on the bits that were previously rusty then use stuff called por-15 which is like a stoneguard rust preventer type material!! then its ready to paint

Is this the stuff your painting the underneath with then? How much do you reckon you need to buy? I was thinking about using hammerite, is this stuff better?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/POR-15-Rust-pr...3A1%7C294%3A50

You're welding looks good buddy, especially for your 1st time. It's always difficult welding on a car - nothing like welding new metal. Best way I found was cutting the new arches to size then marking them on the car, is that what you've done? When your putting new ones on take your time and put small tacks all the way around and make sure there is as little gaps as possible! Spread your welding out and keep it cool. Oh and remove any foam thats inside as it will catch fire

Yeah looks like the same stuff!! yeah its a big learning curve for me cos ive never done it before!! my mate just showed me and i cracked on lol.
yeah i marked where the outer arch sits and lines up with the lines of the car then just went round the edge with perm marker then cut just underneath the line so i had room for error lol
il get the other side cut out tomorrow and get all the rot cut out
