Default Autoflock Motorsport Demo Car

well I was surfing the internet the other day on autotrader when I noticed a car that looked familiar, it was a white Fiesta RS Turbo I used to own many years ago. I have always had a soft spot for this car so I had to make the call, 48hrs later and £1350 less in my pocket (I sold her for £3250) the car was back on my drive. The first time round when I owned her it was a mint 200bhp monster but saldy this is not the case, it even still had the folder of receipts that I put together with it, but my secton of money spent (£8000) is the last, no one has looked after her or spent any money on her. Now its time for a rebuild and full restoration, Here are my proposed plans:

Body
Fully restored back to factory look but wath a descete cut in the bumper
Quad lamps
Full respray
after market alloys

Engine
2.0 Zetec block
rs1800 sump & pickup
Ballanced crank & pulley
Farndon H-section rods
Wiseco pistons
Mildly ported head with standard cvh cam
Beige injector
CR turbo's stage 3 t3turbo (2wd cossie compressor & .48)
Custom downpipe & Exhaust
Custom oil breather system
Alloy rad
GRS custom intercooler
samco hoses
Omex management (although it will be on standard management with emulator for some time)
Electronic boost controller set to 15 - 20 psi (depending on fuelling limitations)

Running gear
Koni adjustable susupension all round
Budget bigger brake conversion front and rear (cossie/st 170)
ap 4 paddle clutch with ahmed pressure plate
CTS stage 2+ gearbox (shot peened cogs & quaiffe)
Polybushed all round

Interior
A few subtle gauges
Custom dials (home made of course)
Standard interior
All plastic trimming flocked in Ford blue and black (also done by me)
Suede rally style steering wheel

I have already started work on this project so will post some pics up this weekend for anyone who is interested. Im hoping the end product will a really clean (not concourse) and respectable fast road car that has hopefully over 200bhp and plenty of torque. Only time will tell if this is so, I just hope the force is with me on this one!!!

this is going to sound daft, but they where on the car when I first bought it years ago, never looked at fiest lights before them so i am biased.lol I know morettes are mainly suited to the cossie but i do think they look better than the standard ones, each to there own i suppose, I just dont want to admit im getting them for sentemental reasons.lol

Default well here some pics of progress so far

this is my first proper attempt at diy body work so go easy on me.lol

this is where the brick dented the car, needs another application of filler but it is getting there

Filler cap is beyond repair:-( this needs to be done by the budy shop

2.1 zvh engine and hybrid t25 turbo, both are now being sold to make way for my new engine soon to be fitted!!! HOO HOO

I shall start stripping the underseal off the car next week to to any welding that is needed and then reseal. More pics to follow (weather permitting, bloody rain)

Got them out in the end, thats now ready for the machine shop for a good clean, im tempted with having a little go of porting the inlet and exhaust, nothing too crazy but I have noticed where there is soot due to the exhaust ports not being as big as the exhaust manifold, maybe if I gently open them up to match it will help air flow?? doubt I will have the balls to do this though.lol

well here is what it is like underneath, my bro is going to try and learn me how to weld.lol (its a bout time really) this weekend I am going to strip off as much underseal as possible to see what is hiding, then sat do the welding (hopefully not too much, but it is a ford) then sunday seal it all back up again nice and neat,,,,,well thats the proposed plan.lol

Can you spot why this cam is shagged??

Just purchased a t3 manifold, ordering the stage 3 t3 turbo from cr turbo's tomorrow i think

I stripped the head yesterday (sun) took it to the machine shop this evening to a bloke who was highly recommended from rally club, noticed that the head has been skimmed quite a few times, so its no good for me as it will effect the compression ratio :-( Ive managed to source another one though which has only been skimmed once, soon as I get it im leaving the ports standard and having 3 cut angle valves machined in, standard sized valves by the way. Short motor should be ready for this weekend, i have had the crank fully balanced and polished now, and I have changed my mind on the cam, im going to use a standard ford cam for the running in process then installing a kent cvh34, i know they are crap but the profile should work well giving plenty of torque, it may only last for a few thousand miles, but they should be fun miles.lol More to come soon
Thanks for looking peeps

bit of work?? lol yeak I know, i was due to buy a uk sunny gtir, deal was all sorted but then when I spotted this on trader it was a done deal in my mind, im going to start a thread in a bit about how to properly redo the underneath of the car, I though it was a case of removing existing underseal, then paint new seal on. But ive spotted on other threads people using something called stonechips??? any advice from any one would be most apprecieated

Cos, where abouts are you from??

Default Quick Update

hello anyone who is watching this thread, I have been quiet for the past month but I have been very busy aquiring some very trick bits, the engine spec has ben revised yet again, I have been working hard on getting the engine bay right, I think there is not enough room with the current battery tray location so I have decided to relocate it to the boot. I have got my junior hacksaw and grinder and set about removing the existing battery tray which was totally rotten. I have also begun removing all rust and treating the left over metal. After removing the splash guards from the wheen arched I descovered a certain amount of surface rust, this came off easily with some grinding and a bit of elbow grease, here are some before and after shots.
The wheer arche before rust removeal

The wheel arch after grinding & painting

The battery tray before

where the battery tray used to be, now it has been ground smooth, had the rust removed and repainted

I know this doesnt look like much but the weather has been bad, but it has taken me an age to just do one wheel arch and the battery tray, I think the results are pretty good though, it may not be concourse but the price for this work is still under a tenner, just mostly hard graft.

More to come soon

Cheers

lol, i know, but it will be an improvement on what it was, ive got a customer off here who is going to do the respray, i just dont have the facilities to fully strip the rest of the car to get it sprayed, i will have to trailor it over 200 miles just to get sprayed, im just trying to make sure the rust is all gone and protected. Must admit im toying with the idea of taking the whole car down foor a full repray inside the engine bay and out. Decisions decisions

Gotech MFI New with loom

Airtec single pass intercooler (courtesy of the Miss's)

I aam now selling th gotech as I am going to purchase a gotech mfi pro x from simon at sitech, the difference is that pro x is sequential fuelling and mfi is batch, must say, sitech seem a proper outfit, very very helpful, cant wait to get the car live mapped by them, will take me a week to get all the way up there though, bloody miles away from me.

I know its your car mate but personally, looking at all those nice goodies you've bought, like the refurbed turbo and the management system, I'd rethink the work you've done on the inner arches and take your time. Its looks like your rushing to put nice bits on a tatty car

There's no need to hand brush it, even aerosol cans do a good job. Here's a pic of what I think is pretty impressive from an aerosol can and laquer in his garage, done by a lad called Ben...

Cheers mate, not rushing but if you had a chat to me you would understand my mentality about my cars, ive brushed the protective paint on the areas which just arnt going to be visible, the splash guards hide the paint in the arches and the main parts of the engine bay are hidden by the engine, my sprayer is going to over spray into the engine bay to neaten it up, I have no intention of turning this car into a show car, if I was going to do thart I would of bought a better car in the first place.lol I am going to put my attention mostly on the interior & engine/running gear, only going to be a fast road car for myself to play with, will have a think though and have a chat with my sprayer about redoing what I have done.

COCHYN you sod!!

you have planted the seed!!!! well its off with the splash guard and out with the sand paper, time for a full respray inside and out.

I just cant leave it now, need to get it done otherwise it will really bug me. I going to pay a visit to the north wales owners club soon as well, send me some contact details if poss mate

Been quoted £500 for the full resplary in diamond white (not sure which shade though yet)

BARGAIN!!
