Mk1 Cortina 4x4 project
Hi guys,
I had started a thread on rsownerclub forum, however I do find Passion Ford to be a lot more informative.
Right, heres the project;
Mk1 Ford Cortina (1965) shell mated to 1991 Ford Sierra floorpan.
Parts sourced for build so far;
I did source a nice 4x4 Sapphire to use as a donor, however decided to sell her and source parts separately instead.
See pics below.
The Cortina is booked into Mercury Motorsport (Fife, Scotland) later this month to finish off the metal work, prep work and respray.
I hope to have her back to the house later in Feb '09 to commence the build!! There is an ever increasing box of Mk1 original trim, lights, lens etc dying to be bolted on!!

Hi guys quick update on where I am....sorry not been online much due to work commitments.
Mercury Motorsport start finishing off the metal work next week. The front cross member needs modded to fit the 50mm I/cooler and rad as its too much of a tight squeeze for the block and front pulley. I should get the car back in around 8-9 weeks time.
Next up will be installing the motor and box (the beauty of this project is that it will all just bolt in!!), then wiring and cooling system.
I have decided to upgrade to a set of 6 pot 330mm fronts so my 14" minilites will be too small....anyone looking for a set...PM me for pics.
I will pop down in the next few days and take some pics....New Years res....keep this post updated!
Cheers all.

50mm core Pro Alloy Intercooler.
Ignore the position in the engine bay...the front cross member is in the process of being modded in order to mount the IC & Rad'sclose to the front grille.

Hi guys,
Started to strip down the motor for rebuild. It's a standard 205 block. I decided not to go for a 200 block as I don't plan to push more than 370-380bhp through it.
No big plans for the motor apart from some mid flowing to the head and Grp A head gasket.........well that's for now.....you know what like.....you always end up wanting more!!

Hi guys,
Popped down to the workshop this morning before the car goes into the booth next week for a lick of paint! I have deceided on Ford Lagoon blue for the main body, and Ford Ermine white for the side and rear stripes and roof.
The next challenge is getting the Pro Alloy RS500 i/cooler and radiator to fit.
See below pictures.
The problem I'm having is lack of space between the front pulley and the rads. Part of the front crossmember (which is Sierra) has been cut away for allow extra space however I'm still struggling for room. I can think of only 2 options;
1. Cut a section of the front lower panel away, fit the rads and then look at refitting the lower panel with a slight out-step from the front end. I really dont want to do this as it will ruin the clean original lines of the front end.
2. Bin the RS500 plan and go for a standard 4x4 Cossie intercooler
Any thoughts guys??

Hi SOO, I actually might give Andrew a call and see what he thinks. I spoke to him the other month but he was working through a 3 month backlog of work. Then again, I'm in no hurry.
I will have a think first and think of other options first as I would like to use my existing gear.
