Default escort cosworth full build update 7/02/10

ok my latest project after getting rid of the sierra is a escort cosworth

i came across this on ebay went and had a look and bought, it go delivered last sunday so ive been getting the underside ready for painting as i want to get the car as clean as i can, not concourse just clean and tidy

it was missing an engine, exhaust and ecu, and a couple of minor things but did come all polyvushed, pro alloy cooler, coilovers etc

so here it is when i got it

firs thing was to start clearing all the crap out and storing it all which was done

i took the kit off to check the sills which were in perfect condition, though i broke every single clip on teh skirts lol

fuel tank was next, had to cut the straps off due to captives spinning, once this was out i found it had an uprated 003 pump which will be changed to a 023 one when its ready to go back in

rear beam next, everything came out perfectly as it should and dismantled lovely aswell, so this is ready to be powdercoated as soon as i get the beam bushes pressed out

pic of underneath to sho how dirty it is, nut no rust which is a good thing

also i want to run a car looms uk loom (ryans) but i didnt want to keep the original wiring as it would look a mess, so as the escort is built into the main loom i had to sort the wiring out to elimante it when i come to fit the new loom

next was to remove all the wiring from the car as i wanted to paint the engine bay, it was easier this way than feeding it back into the car lol

whats left in the bay, though now its just a bonnet cable and throttle cable which will be out soon, all the clips are out and hopefully will be replaced with new ones

random pic of the spoilers missing

now it was time to concentrate on the underside, this is how it started

fuel lines and brake lines out

and then the cleaning and prepping started lol

and thats the underside ready, proberbly doesnt lok much but thats 3 full days to get it like that and im happy with that, as i carnt lay on my back much longer scrubbing etc lol

next is to get the engine bay prepped, then masked re stone chipped and painted, then i can start building it back up again

so next update soon

i need to check the pump first but yes it will be for sale i just need to sort out whats for sale on it first

engine wise, duno i only want to run 350-380, i was going to have the skyline box fitted but with the power i want to run its not worth it just yet

ill have the engine specced for around 500 though, so it will just be add on bits and a remap i need to get full power, but ill have to save for transmission first, std stuff will be fine for now though

thanks lads

well today i picked all my stoneschip up ready to redo underneath, also went down a scrap yard, to get some bits and bobs, also managed to find a scorpio in there and got the seat runner covers for a mere Ł3, considering the last set on ebay went for Ł16 odd last time i looked lol

so hopefully tomorrow it will all be stonechipped up

Looks like it will be a nice tidy car when you've finished.

the shell looks very tidy too, i.e no rust etc

Good luck with it all.
