@ Patalrob

Your best off sourcing a full Focus RS gearbox from the U.K. you have the benefit of a short ratio box with a standard Quaife ATB diff. Much cheaper than buying a new one. I gave a box away to a mate in aid of his new toy, so there's plenty about

So what your saying is you have an extra gear box laying around and want give it to me .

But seriously that will be a thing to think about for sure when I go for more boost. Its a direct bolt on? Would I have to change CV's and trans mounts.

Thanks Paul

Might have to pull the head off. Been smelling antifreeze every time I have been starting it..... Hopeing its just a head gasket.

But I'm going to figure out prices for some rods and pistons with a lil head work.

thats a good lookin car you have there fella, keep up the good work, surely now is the time to look at gettin a focus rs gear box, especially as the pound is so so so weak against the dollar, you would b getting it a 1/3 cheaper would surly cover import

Here's an update on it. I had lost # 4 cyl and I believe #3 was right behind it. I have another lump sorted already. Am in the process of getting the old lump out.

So heres an update on the pictures.

A new little bit I will be adding when it gets alll put back together.

Nice project.

Regarding the ATB, My Escort RST has a Ford Racing Torsen ATB fitted, with you being in the US, thats a better bet I think. I paid around $600 for it. Worked out expensive for me because of the exchange rates etc, but should be OK for you I guess?

Are the Getrag and MTX diff's the same?

Let me know if you want me to give you some details of what I bought and from where etc....

No. They're different - the ST170 box is the MT285, also found in the early Mini Cooper S.

P.S -Pat! I am VERY envious of your workshop! It's about 6 times bigger than mine!!!

The Diff is the torsen from Ford Racing paind $675 for it. Was thinking about going quaife diff but they are $1100. Will is correct about the trans but I can't reamember if they are more a BMW trans or a Ford one lol

As for the Clyinder/s giveing out I believe what had happened is the Boost had spiked. The Powerworks are known to do that during cold conditions. I believe it was 10-20 degrees fahrenheit when they gave out. I haven't split the head off the block yet to see the damage. But I had taken the header off last night and there were signs of oil pudding in #4-3 exhaust ports.

Will & Wool- I'll pass it onto my dad as its his shop. Just wish it was heated and had more tools But no matter how big your shop is and how many tools you have its never enough
