Its been a bit quiet the last couple of weeks as i realised i wouldnt get the car ready for any driving on tarmac this year.
So time and money have been spent on other things.

Anyways i finally got the adaptor and wheelbearing from dewitts.

I do understand what you mean now Andy, as i imagined the flange would fit the other way around.
If that was the case, the upright would have supported the adaptor.
So i'll try it, and if anything happens, ill modify it to something better.

About to bring a truckload of parts to the machine shop, so some real progress will be made after this.

make sure your bearing has a good radius so you can radius your flange to help stop it snapping,,, i got radius machined onto mine and took a couple of thou off the mating faces of the bearings to tighten them up,,dewitts should already of done this thou.

Yeah if you look closely the bearing is radiused, if i understand you correctly.
I'll see if any more machining can be done to the bearing.
and also machine the flange to match.

since im awaiting to buy a house (with a garage) the car is at the moment stowed away, as i don't have any place to work at it at the moment.
Also the engine was sold to get some finances to the house.
So there arent much of any updates.
But yesterday some parts showed up at my door

Finally sourced a set of these hard to find homologated rear escort wrc brakes.

And also

These lovely magnesium wheels from tommy fields yellow escort.
Gonna look perfect on the focus, especially after the dark grey paint job im planning (sometime in the next decade...)

And finally a picture i took from the day i moved the car from my previous garage, getting anxious to manhandling it on the tracks now.

But dont expect to much updates within the next months :\

Ok finally!
The car is in place in its (my) new home.

Had to spend all day cleaning out the garage, so not much work was carried out.
I have taken of the front again to easen the assembly and given the rear brakes a good cleaning.
In all the moving i noticed one of the brake pad holders has gone missing, so i need to remake that part, but its a quick fix.
Forgot to take pictures of that process, but heres one of the calipper when it was almost fully stripped:

I am REALLY excited about the new engine, and i will hopefully have it delivered buy friday, and i will post pictures then.
I bought it in england and the only part i took with me was this =)

Now, one question i have, does anyone have the ffd magnesium sump and can measure the height between the mounting point of the dipstick and the top of the sump?
Reason is im gonne use the ffd dipstick on the standard 4x4 sump, and i need to know how high or low i should make the mounting point.
As always, terrible explanation, but i hope you understand.
Dipstick

and a picture explaining where i need the measure

thanks jimbo, appreciate it.
If you miss buy a milimetre or two its no big deal, case is to know that the dipstick is somewhat right.

So the car is in the air, and i've started working on the car again.

Engine was delayed, so i hope its in place by next weekend.
The same goes for the parts that are to be customised...
On top of that the rear r.h. brakeline is damaged, so i need to remake that one, and one thing i did not understand.. the driveshaft did not fit...

So please help me out..
The car was previously fitted with a 9inch, but im using a 7.5inch, which should mean i need a shorter left hand driveshaft.
So i got a standard cosworth item. (the one on top)

But it is half an inch to short.

At the moment it looks like i need a spacer, but that really shouldnt be necessary.
any suggestions?

hehe its hard to get hold of a 9inch with 3.64:1, plus it costs to much at this point.

Jimbo, any news regarding dipstick measuring?

Finally!!
Today i have driven 600kilometres just to get this beauty home

I also bought this engine hoist so i first of all could get the pallet of the car and also eventually get the engine in the car.

after a bit of fiddeling it was put together and the engine was mounted in the engine holder thingy..

So as you can see its an wrc engine, with almost all the proper specs.

zf pump, dual air injectors, ugly looking camcover...

IHI turbo with wrc manifold.

Modified engine block with wrc breather.

neat tilton ot-2 clutch.

Had to call it a day now, as i have to get up for work tomorrow, but looking forward to go back to the garage now.

Yeah the plan is to make it a quick car before i go up on the bhp to do the big 4wd drifts.

Today i started getting the engine in to the car, although there is no sump on it it is still plenty of things to work with around the engine, before i can start it.
For instance the wiring loom to the engine includes wiring to the starter and probably other things, which means it is a big 37pin multiplug on it, while in the car there is a 18pin multiplug, so this means it will be alot if wiring hassle before the engine can be started.

But the enginemount didnt go clear of the exhaust manifold

As i didnt have a grinder i started drilling it, but it took to long time, so i'll get hold of a grinder and modify the mount to go clear.
Also i need to put some spacers on it, since i cutted it when the last engine went in..
If anyone has this mount for sale, that will go clear of the exhaust i will gladly buy it.

Unfortunately there was a crack in the pas mounting bracket, which is a shame as its a 909 item.
I have one of those spare, but the bolts was fitted so tight so i didnt manage to loosen them.
So ill have it welded, as it will require alot of heat to get them loose i guess.

I had new seat brackets made, as i had to move the seats way longer back then the previous owner had.
Because of the plumbed in fireextinguisher there is limited space there.

But its acceptable how it is now.

Also the rear diff mount was modified so i could bolt the diff in.

Got hold if a grinder today, so i could modify the enginemount.
It doesnt feel right.. cause its really tight between the mounting arm and the exhaust..

Anyways, engine is in the car

Unfortunatly it has to go out again so the sump can be fitted.

Here you can see i've cutted the engine mount.

But still its really tight, so i need to investigate if there are other types of enginemounts available.

Also its to tight to have the rear breather hose fitted to the wrc breather, so a sledge hammer may be needed..
havent decided yet

sooo some more work has been carried out.
It was a dreadful task mapping out the 37pin multiplug on the engineloom.

I've got them all except 4of them... i have no idea where they go as i have measured all the pin ends i could possibly find..
I will connect the t6 next week to a friends car and have a look at the analog ports configured there, and maybe that will give me some clues.

Im really concerned about this:

As the engine mount is a proper wrc type.. manifold is a wrc type, engine block is modified to wrc spec, and still there is a 2mm clearance between manifold and mounting.
Also the enginemount bush is only 10-20mm away.. so i do believe if i dont do anything about this it will result in melted rubber.
Anyone have any opinions around this?

The front is looking cool with the new intercooler and radiator.
But its a tight fit with the headlights.

But i think i should be able to cut the plastic arm for the indicator fitting so it all goes in to place.

Also i have a stack 8100 display in the car, and on the loom there is a 9pin multiplug

does anyone know what you can connect to this?

the multiplug on the stack dash will go to the pectel monitor multiplug on the pectel engine loom id say and the dash will read direct off the ecu rather than having a stand alone loom and sensors like normal, quite rare pectel stack dash's
you will need an extension making up most likely for it to reach

Ohh really, that is great news!
But... what are all those 9pins?
I recon i would need to connect the rs232tx and ground to the stack dash, but what more?

Hi is there room from the top of the gearbox to the bulkhead could you lift the engine and cut the mounting arms and make them fit with the engine higher
these are mine

The brackets are copys but the arms are GRP A?

Great car and nice reading about it
