My Series 1 RST
Hello. This is my first post on here. PhilW from cruisewirral reccomended coming on here
So heres my car and a bit of a story of how i ended up with it.
I bought a mk1 Cortina track car about mid summer of 2005. I was 18 at the time and planning to sort my license out whilst having a project to spur me on. Unfortunately by the time i passed (december 2006) it wasnt ready. So i bought my Dads mk1 Triumph Vitesse 2 litre for the grand sum of £800. I razzed it about in that for a bit until the floor fell out / mot time came and sold it on for £600. At the time my Dad had a mk2 Cortina 1300 deluxe. It was georgeous, in midnight blue with Lotus steels, scraping the floor, nice exhaust, and a gt spec engine. So he let me run about in it till i sorted myself out. Nothing did much for me really, and the mk1 was still sitting there. One day whilst looking on t'internet for a cossie 24v i came across a 2.1 pinto'd 100e. So i went over to Liverpool to see it and knew i had to have it straight away. I swapped the mk1 with my dad for the mk2, then swapped the mk2 and £500 for the 100e. I kept it for ages, well, ages for me, 8 months. Then i started to get bored and wanted more powerz. I looked around and fancied a few cars but never bit on anything. I looked at saab 9000 turbos with silly power, 200sx's and other similar stuff. Then decided i wanted a cossie. Im sure you can see where this is going, i had no chance being 21 with not even 2 years ncb. Then a lad offered me a swap on his cossie. When i explained i couldnt he said he could sort a good S1 RST out. I jumped at it because ive always loved them. I did a straight swap on the 100e and here i am.
Heres a few pictures and spec and what my intentions are.
Currently:
1600 cvh turbo.
Garrett T3 stage 1 hybrid.
-31 actuator set at 1bar.
Kent cvh 34 cam.
pace double capacity intercooler.
Big valve head.
Ported and polished head
Fancy headgasket
Spax adjustables all round.
Mahoosive rear strut brace
S2 discs 261mm up front, rear disc conversion with cosworth calipers and high performance pads all round.
LSD and uprated organic clutch.
Full stainless exhaust.
Soon:
In car digital Boost controller
HKS Turbo timer type-1
boost gauge, oil pressure gauge and a clock (i like clocks in my car).
Hopefully:
FMIC
Bigger hybrid turbo
a bit more boost
probably uprated bottom end to handle the above.
The handling is already well sorted so theres no need to touch that.
No idea what power its making, had estimates of 180bhp to 220bhp so id be happy with 200bhp. It feels like, and goes like its more though, had to back off for a supra turbo the other day, i almost run into the back of him, and he was on full chat.
There is a few problems to sort, and ill probably ask about them in the RST section but when their done i can set off with the work. Its not my daily anymore (i was doing 60 mile round trips in the 100e every day) and ive been working plenty of overtime so i can afford to play with it
Pictures are a bit cack but i havnt had chance to take new ones yet.

I ran about in it for about 4 months and then started having running issues. I wasnt having much luck fixing it and with my lack of experience with RS Turbo's i didnt really know what to look for and got fed up. Tax came up and i didnt see a point taxing it as it wasnt on the road so i went and bought myself a Nissan S13 200sx to go drifting in. Youve probably seen me about in it. Its Red and had Orange wheels for a bit.
Ive kept the S1 though and im now in the process of getting it running again and hopefully sometime next year when im happy with the mechanicals its going to get the bodywork fixed and resprayed. Ive got an FMIC to go on aswell.
Heres the Datsun anyway incase youve seen it before.

Would anyone be interested in this car if it where up for sale?
I need to face facts that im never going to get it going however few jobs need doing. Im too lazy and could do with the cash anyway.
Not really sure what its worth, but ive just last week fitted a brand new battery and it started up fine. Got an FMIC and Turbo Timer to go with it. Think its even got a few months MOT.
Ill take offers and im also interested in P/x's. Anything interesting, preferably with a Turbo bolted on somewhere. Nothing ridiculous insurance wise though although most cars arent a problem.

Ive got a rough sum in my head of about £2500 with all the parts i have with it. It owes me a LOT more then that in the cost of the car plus the parts ive just fitted to it and taking into account the spec. I could get more for breaking but id rather see it stay on the road. PM if you want to talk.

Theres no point. Its just going to waste here. Its a shame for it to sit around when someone else could be using it. I fancy a change aswell. Either that or getting standalone ECU on my S13 and a GT28 turbo.
