Default Sorry to start a new thread but.. lol

ive been of the scene for a while but still got the old series 1 in bits and up the local body shop for a respray etc. ive got the engine in bits and so far ive got together..

polished and ported head , 3 angle seats etc.
stage2 turbo
vernier pulley
kent cam

what i would like to know if at this stage its worth slinging a 1.8 zetec bottom end on it or just sticking to my +.5mm overbore standard block.

ive got a print out for 186bhp from before i stripped the engine ( with the standard bottom end and head ) and was wondering if it worth the hassel of the zetec conversion and what kind of power i could expect with that spec?

and advice? thanks

i wouldnt think it was a hassle fatty to do , depends on if your sticking with the k jet fuelling for me ,

it can be modded to fuel enough ,but if ditch it for efi whilst ur at it ,

that way u could go 2 ltr fella,

if your making the effort of a 1.8 , theres not much more to 2.0 ,

that way u can keep the boost low and still have more ooopmh

like most things its all depending on ur budget

beef ,

thanks for your reply. i would like to keep the k jet as the EFI route would mean more searching around on ebay lol budgetwise ive spent enough on the rest of the car so was looking for an economy power up really lol

how would the fuelling be tweaked to run the 1.8 bottom end?

thanks again

I'd go for the 1.8 bottom end mate , loads more torque and i think its a much better engine. Others wont agree i'm sure.

it will just need setting up with the new bottom end I'e fuel and timming adjustments.

like nathy said fatty the 1.8 aint a bad engine if ur just trying to up the power a little , had on in my old s2 and clearly saw the difference

the injectors in the k jet will eaisily cope with upping the power , theres fule pressure reg mods and a mod on the k jet itself , dont know the exact details but seen it done , theres also mapabble 5th injector set ups from the likes of msd ,

just consult a local tuner , they should eaisily steer u in the best direction muck ,
