mk2 escort zetec
been promosing myself one for ages and a recent rally tipped the balance i knew where this was sitting so i broke my mk2 xr2 zetec which was undergoing a rebuild and bought this. plans are to tidy it up and fit my 2l zetec on jenveys from the xr2 the repaint it or fit forest arches and paint it white im still undecided. the car was originally a 1.3 but its now fitted with a 1.6 on 40s and suposed to have a kent cam and fancy head, flushed out the old fuel and cleaned the carbs and she ran albeit rough as timings out not bad as its been sitting about 8 years. Shes fairly solid never had the inner wings painted and bootfloor and tubs are imaculate its had sills and arches in the past
the car came with a set of fiberglass forest arches so sat them on
started ripping out the rotten bits and replacing them with fresh metal the rear corners on both sides are shot so dug out all the rot and remade them this time water wont sit in them, its not finnished still need to work on the shape but its gettin there. Also started removing the tar pads from the floors almost there but its a bitch of a job
Started collecting parts, got a bias box and hopefully picking up a few bits for the zetec conversion shortly
all hidden by the trim
started collecting bits for the zetec conversion
bias box which ive stripped painted and rebuilt
rs2000 bellhousing
type 9 box cleaned and painted
retro ford equal length header exhaust which is a work of art
engine mocked up with my jenveys its a s2 zetec with a black top camcover which came out my xr2
works been slow with the car recently cause of working away for months but just means i buy more bits for it almost got all the conversion bits
retro ford water rail
retroford baffled sump the quality of this stuff is top notch very impressed with it
painted up
one of my mates gave me a chassis mount kit for a xe but il make up some new plates for the zetec
started cleaning up the underside of the car, one of the owners like waxoyl alot so its fairly good needing some patches on the inner sill though
had a couple of days at it so assembled the engine and mocked it up tp check clearances
started on the bulkhead
made up the engine mounting plates for the zetec chassis mounts cause im using a set for a vauhaul 16v
more floor cleaning
got a fiber glass bonnet decided to paint it black for just now as it will get a full respray next year but want to get it running first so instead of trying to match it with rattle cans might as well have it black
and tried my old wheels but dont think they really suit il keep the capri alloys
