The cat by the way is not mine. It just appeared and made itself at home.
It ate my other 3 cats food, drank their water, had a fight with one of them and then.
I KID YOU NOT.....
Was asleep on the scuttle of the Westy as we craned the engine out!!!!!

This is pretty much the first pic I took of the car.
It was a sound car, and in good condition for its age Stu said
It was running ok apart from a slight misfire...
plan was to use the car for trackdays. As I wanted something different from the Sierra, Skyline and 911... (all big heavy powerful 4wd cars)
The Westy is small, light, RWD and with the YB engine it, I thought could still get some straight line speed! It also had to be very user friendly as I want it to be not only enjoyed my me and maria and my uncle Roy.... BUT I wanna get my mum out on track in it!
First outing was going to be that low profile event that is National day.
In an effort to make sure it wasn't totally gay, I bought some new TD Pro Race 1.2 15' wheels and got some R888's and Maria had them fitted up!
We then found out that I bought the wrong offset and so the fronts would not fit... and with the old wheels on the new wider tyres rubbed the bodywork...
Futher investigation revealed that one of the reasons is that the entire rear body is sitting to low as its never actually been attached to the car!!!
Chip and stu fitted some Group A WRC cable ties to try and make it better just for the day... but it was no good and I would have to run odd wheels on a gay offset at ND.
So car went over to Stus for a thorough going over. Here we change the plugs to champions out of stus Westy and the misfire was cured!!!
We also dumped the silly silly loud Forge dump valve for a 909 broom handle... and took out the restrictor in the turbo.
Chip then found the car was running lean and so upped the fuel pressure and we upped the boost as well to a humongmous 1bar!!!
BUT the car was now running 10 times better than it was and I was very excited about ND!!
especially as Maria had now fitted a shiny new gearknob which is much nicer to use... The gearbox is a T5 with a quickshift and its PERFECT in the car!
Chip and Stu both commented that although the car is dog slow it handled and drove really nicely!!!
I also contributed massively to the cars performance by peeling of the stickers. To be honest although Stu, chip and maria had played their part... it was these mods that changed the car the most. It was now lighter and more slippery and looked cooler. GOD I AM GOOD!

Gonna add pics and bits to thread as I find em... or remember them!
So... ND came around and the little yellow coffin was awesome fun!!!
EVEN MARIA WOULD ADMIT THAT!!!
went all day long with the help of Chip and Steve and the old owner Ross helping to bodge a few bits and bobs!
Personally I thought it did really well on track and was able to mix it with cars and drivers as fast as Si B in his Evo!!!!
however the day showed that although the car was a nice little reliable road car... it was no track toy!!!
It was not holding boost and was spewing oil and water and poo and overheating for fun!!!!
BUT it drove there and drove back and me and maria had an awesome day with it and I really couldn't ask for more!!!
I had 3 more track days planned in next two weeks but Stu and Chip persuaded me that there was no way it was going to survive all that...
So the decision was made to take the car off the road and rebuild it!
Not to a mad standard and not to make it mental...
it had to be
1. RELIBALE
2. Cost effective long term
3. Fun and easy to drive
and so we decided to keep the engine 100% standard internally.
fit a T34.63 on a MSD chip and that would be tuning wise.
Siemens injectors, coil pack conversion, and closed loop again all for reliabilty and ease of use.
Fuel system was going to be uprated and few other bits and bobs....
SOOO... the strip down commenced.
last ever pic of old spec!
maria and helen broke the boot lid at ND!

I love the way everyone still thinks you are Joking about it being a basic spec engine going back in it
The coiled bit of copper wire looks like an attempt to stop the waterpipe kinking when it gets bent.
Order some of this Lee, ASAP:

(check required diameter with Stu)

The coiled copper was in the 35mm top hose.
Like we discussed chip, will probably take the head off and find its on 10 long studs, pocketed cossie race pistons and Nikasil liners already!!!!
.......although I am predicting a crusty old head with WRC, 909, Group A specification corrosion and general filth.

Never!
Much as they are cool... they are noisy, higher maintenence and more importantly they are expensive and easy to break!!! and that would totally stop me letting ANYONE else drive it! and I like other people enjoying my cars!
The aim of this car is FUN for lots of people!
Simple, reliable and well put together and proven parts.
With around 350bhp its going to be fooking fast on track, but it will also be very easy to jump into and cruise around the lanes on a sunny evening after work!

Preoperly excited though!!
ENORMOUS THANKS TO STU AND CHIP!!!
You would not believe how helpful they are being!!!
Stu is pulling the head off etc etc, whilst Chip is removing the Ryan loom from Cossie Richs Saff in a garage that has no light or power
and they wont accept a penny! in fact I think if I offer Chip money one more time he is gonna beat me using his black belt origami skills!
Gotta love PassionFord... I've made some proper friends on here!!

No worries mate. As I said you are welcome for a go.... as I know you can't break it! and if you did its gonna be cheap!
Where as you have more chance of a go on Stus wife than you do a drive of his car!!! The box is £7k alone!
You could see him having kittens as I drove off!! he was shitting himself!!!
(wow... I have just worked out where the cat came from now! )
