Well I've been pretty busy lately as I tied the knot with my lovely lady last week.

Yep, still here mate.
No longer on the tools though. Been in a shirt for a year, swapped the toolbox for an inbox.
Really miss building motors to be honest.

I bet, im working for Bosch Rexroth at the mo and Dagenham use our kit on the lines. I am an elecronic repair tech currently, been considering joining the applications or service teams but there is a lot of time away from home and i dont want that. Not sure i could go back to being sat at a desk for hours either lol

Thats understandable mate.

Fortunately i took a job of Prototype build coordinator which means my office is still part of my old workshop.
I work alongside my old friends and im now their "go to" person when they have a problem. So even though im at a desk, im not in an office block and still get to go get involved in the mechanical goings on and sorting out issues.

So if anything im more involved in engine engineering than i was before, just not at a spanners level.
I do miss the tools, my mates and the banter though.

Not stopped yet.
Check out my beautiful new WRC crossmember and S12b inspired TCAs. These are similar spec to the previous design but Dave decided to take a different route to reduce the chances of binding. Custom made to fit the OEM caster block, EN36 steel pins, T45 & S515 construction.
You'll see they're now hanging from a gorgeous T45 WRC lightweight crossmember.

Just love this stuff.

Gather round!!
Long overdue sh*tbox update.

Surprise surprise, Dave bought himself a new grinder so naturally had to cut what was remaining of my front end off. Haha.

New WRC cross brace going in to hold the bumper and rad. Beautifully hand made in S515 steel by the man himself.

Also had a cheeky mock up with some panels. Obviously all just hanging in place and not fitted but nice to see some idea as to how she will look.

Obviously the car is going to be much more rigid than before, do you think there will be any weight gain when it is finished?

Significantly lighter.
I took over 120kg out I it straight away when I began stripping it. Dave has cut out every single unused bracket and panel that doesn't need to be there. Yes it's got 38m or T45 in it but that's only 40kg.
I'm hoping for around 1250kg

Just home after a "somewhat expensive" 750 mile round trip to see a very friendly Mr Gamble in Wolverhampton and then on to see crazy Dave down in Swansea.
I'm absolutely delighted to have nailed down a set of freshly serviced genuine WRC Sachs dampers.
Probably THE most important part of the car, and one area I really didn't want to cut any corners was the suspension.

I have never seen so much love shown to one car in my 57 year life by a working class guy, this car has kept me entertained for what must be the last four or five years, I dread to think how much money this project has cost you from start to finish, but worth every penny, very well done mate, god knows how you afforded to get married as well.
This project has given me that much pleasure that I would like to offer you, once its painted, a complete wet sand and mutiple stage polish, to the highest standard, completely free, to check my competence in this field please check out my work on this page, start from the bottom and work up.
https://www.facebook.com/groups/456137521202386/
I have never offered this to anyone before but would love to be a small part of this project, also Kamikazi suberu will vouch for my work.

Wow what a truly amazing offer. I dare say I hope the car won't require a full wet flat and polish but I'm truly humbled.
Thank you so much, thanks for keeping up with the thread over all this time. And you're right, I'm a regular working class guy trying to build my dreams.
Often overlooked on a ford forum but I think everyone who's a Petrolhead can relate to a project like this.

Every car that is re sprayed needs flatting and polishing, if you would like me to do this for you (completely free) do not let anyone start to flat it or polish it after painting, I would rather do the whole thing from scratch, feel free to contact me when and if, you would like me to do this for you, do not feel awkward about contacting me as I would be more than happy to do it. my phone number can be found at the top of my facebook page, meantime I think it may be a good idea to read some of my threads and you will see I have prepped many show winning and magazine cover cars.
All the best Ted11

Cheers Andy. Still need to get a few bits in order to get them on the car.
Topmounts, springs and roller bearing Spring seats.
So I've still got a few quid to spend. But a good bulk of it is bought now by the way of the dampers.

Well what with the flood of competition machinery in and out of the workshop my car hasn't had an update in a while.
However pleased to show the offside rear qtr panel has been made and the tub work done.
All in steel hand formed and rolled.
She's ticking along in the background and getting closer and closer to getting that final run on the spit.
Qtr panel on this side is just resting in place for now but give a good idea as to how she will look. The scale of the size of a WRC wheel well is quite apparent when you look side on compared to that of a road car. They fully protrude into the rear door aperture.
I think it looks mega and is a credit to Daves hard work and attention to detail.
Enjoy.
