T26 WRC - "RE-IMAGINED" 550bhp+ Prodrive S8 WRC
Well sod it... heres goes nothing
Frayz's 2002 STI Version 7 Prodrive Edition
***Only 750 Prodrive editions ever made*** ***Only 100 ever made in O8V Blue/Black mica***
Well at the tender age of 21 after owning my Ford sierra saphire cosworth for 2 years it was time to move on. The car was of reasonable stage 3 spec and was running 350+bhp.
It was my pride and joy and an absolute thrill to own and drive. I was offered the right money at the right time and the cossie finally had to go.
Now obviously i had the major task of filling the cosworths shoes. I wanted something newer, better built and basically the most for my money.
Having explored the likes of escort cossies, evos and skylines etc. I finally decided i wanted a Subaru. These represented the best value for money
I did what homework i could and it came down to a bugeye STI.
I wanted the 6 speed box, brembos etc... but above all it had to be black.
After a month or so of searching id found the car. It was based in Essex and was a totally standard, unmarked black Prodrive edition bugeye sti. She had one owner from new FSSH and only 21K on the clock.
The guy i bought it from was a city trader and used the train everyday. For this reason he simply didnt use the car enough and decided to sell.
After a few negotiations i was lucky enough to drive home with this.
The day after i picked it up.
Well 2.5 years later ive just taken the car off of the road to have the motor out and finally put in a built 2.5. The new motor with forged internals should be plenty strong enough to cope with some big boost and hard use whilst still maintaining good road manners and drivability. The target is 450+bhp but more importantly over 500lbsft of torque. Reliability is also a big factor given the cars usage, so I have tried to over engineer as many items on the new build as possible.
My new engine build, waiting to be put together... should be in by the end of August 08
EJ257 block
EJ257 sti crank
Wiseco pistons
Piston rings
Carrillo rods
ACL big end bearings

Converted an fuel rails
Fuel system, hose fittings etc

Full engine/ transmission mount kit

Summer 2008 will also see some suspension changes, Spec C type RA steering rack and hopefully a roll cage too.
The ride along the way has been a bumpy one and you guys can read all about it from start to finish just here.

Cheers Gaz, good to hear from you. Yeah everyone heres all good. Same old, nothing changes ya know.
Ive done an absolute shedload of cash on the car mate but it performance is absolutely staggering. Doesnt pull at the heart strings the way an RS does but its track/cross country performance im after and this really delivers.
Hope you spotted the 6 defis... something you were always nagging me to buy for the saff

Cheers guys.
Im really pleased you all like it. Its so much more difficult to get respect from the Ford boys as they expect so much more... show the scooby boys some stickers and a dump valve and youre golden lol
I think it goes without saying im still a complete RS nut and will definiately have another cossie one day.
Nothing quite beats the sound and feeling of owning a properly sorted RS.

Stunning mate. Even with the decals, they don't look like cheap-ass versions so work very well - would pass as a privateer rally car with a number on the doors and not some lame look-a-like graphics kit fitted. Never noticed the stealth air-intake in the spotlamp blank until I checked the other topic.
Are you re-flocking the steering wheel (is that the colour it should be or just worn through use?).
Also repsect that you've done almost everything yourself. Pat on the back there

The steering wheel is grey suede trimmed and it looks lighter than it really is in the pic. I might have it re done in black though. The graphics were done by SJS designs and all the chequer is armourfended to prevent UV bleaching and damage.
I too am not a huge fan of graphics but it was done as an advertising stunt for a good friend of mine who owns Mocom Racing. I wanted something original and motorsport orientated that didnt look tacky.
I think i managed that and it doesnt look too "carlos fandango" lol
The air intake used to be plumbed directly into my OEM airbox. But sinced i maxed out the MAF sensor it now feeds a wing mounted "Dry-flow" AEM filter that is modified to fit an APS 70mm intake. The setup works really well.

Not really into Subarus (although my brother's had a couple of MY06 Type RAs and is now on a MY06 Type RA-R, so I know a little bit) but can I ask - why so many gauges? I would have thought just a few DEFIs would do the trick for pressures and temps but you've got loads of them and a few others too? I would be concerned about not looking through the windscreen if you are going to worry so much about all those readings
Can see you love it though - fair play for putting the work in

Thats the beauty of Defis mate. I dont have to look at them as they have an alarm if anything gets out of shape.
The 2 most important meters are my wideband and ACT that sit directly inline of me so i dont have to worry about looking at anything else. The Phormula KS3 knock analyser also has an alarm if she should ping.
Ideally id dump the lot and go for a STACK unit but hindsight is a wonderful thing. If i had the cash, id swap em for a standalone dash unit.

Frazy hows it goin mate, its been a while. Im fascinated and so suprised by the sheer amount of modding u have done to the car. I remember when u had just bought it and u told me u was 'keeping this one standard', im sure u said that and im glad i didnt believe u at the time lol.The graphics do the job well, i love that intercooler, it looks enormous, even the extra tip on the spoiler is good.
Aside from the car, hope everything else is well for u at the moment mate.
