Slow progress but I got it on axel stands today and removed the rear trailing arms to clean up and refit, I have also noticed a small hole in the pas rear sill 😂 what a bastard think I'm going to learn to weld

After 4 days in the deox c the arms are like new metal





Etched and ready to get some hammerite spray

Also did the washers



I'll have the all built back up by this afternoon and fitted tomorrow

Wheels spacers also arrived woohoo

Yep interiors staying out for a while I think lol at least until I start to use it, it's going to a Kwik fit for an mot tho so I doubt it'll pass lol

right weekend passed i fitted the tie bars what a opain in the arse!!! no more flowflex bushes for me

fixed the handbrake drivers side drum, sticky cable and siezed auto adjuster

also fitted the 300mm brakes





now i need to get the old fuel out of the tank so i can get it started think year old fuel is defo not doing it any favors lol

Yeh same here. I paid 40quid for the discs. That metal stuff seems to work really well.

Best thing I've ever used you have to be patient with it sand blasting is much faster but this stuff gets in every where and is safe in rubber and plastic lol

Had local paint shop make me up some diamond white I could apply with a roller as I didn't want overspray everywhere





Also stone shipped over the read lead paint on the sills


That's it for today going to freshen up all the brackets that came out before they go back in too

Ordered some replacement indicators as the ones in there have gone fight and the captive nut is just spinning 😐



Also got a G3 clay cloth to tidy the paintwork up


Next just is to prep and paint my replacement bootlid

Got the interior bolted back in today and replaced a clip on the leaky oil return so hopefully it's all MOT ready now

Also put the ambers back on the front







So rely sure if I like em but it's all for the VIC check in a few weeks lol

Cool project I just bought some bits for my xr3i cabbie for turbo conversion. I loved the euro look with the escos rims better than the current rims! Imolas are awesome wheels but escos on a mk4 is awesome.

I agree I like it so I've kept them
And all the other modded bits theo whole looks was more my taste but I though it would be cool to go back standard ish with some 90s wheels and a turbo engine for abit

After hunting for a mint rot free bonnet in white and gettin one that wast rougher than what I had I decided to just repair the one I already had I was rely worries as it was very pimply but turned out just to be pint

Starting cutting out the crap



Turned out to not be that bad and at least mines dent free 😂

It's finally road legal, I can't believe it, just needs some mapping before I can address the body work

Few more bits to fit like my ERL water injection, Pre rad, HIDs and painted inlet magnifold and full rear bake rebuild, it's never ending.

Also got an innovate LC-1 wideband Lambda controller

The a/f gauges, lambdas are ok. Ive got one on my saff.

This aint a gauge one just works with the ecu so i get closed loop fueling

Well bad news while at the final herdel of mapping karl noticed that the block was cracked on the front water jacket

Clutch is slipping at anything over 7psi and the oil return is shagged

So new engine and clutch are on the cards

Such a shame so close......back into the garage it goes

Ha ha yer thats the one mate crazy engine bay was sand blasted like 5 years ago but i removed everything lol crazy where sand gets i guess

Ive just bought another standard frst engine from ian at the RS Centre, as i was never going for big power it should be good enough

Just gotta get it back home, change the engine and put an uprated clutch in and it can go back to karl

Well i tracked down a replacment CVH from ian at the RS Centre



Time to start ripping the old one out.....few hours on it today



And got a relatively now 5 paddel clutch from Daryl Stanley hopefuly this stop the slippage

Cvh engines are getting hard to find now. Years ago they were 10 a penny.

A 20 odd year old worn engine....ian was very reasonably priced plus i now have a head and inlet manfold to sell

Got abit more done today give the new engine a good degrease

New motorcraft water pump and Gates belt



Removed all the old exhaust studs and fitted the vxr injectors

Coolio. Its been a while since i did a cvh timing belt.

When i blew my old xr3i up i paid 80 quid for an engine all those years ago.

Then the sensible in me came and and decided to deal woth the surface rust and shit paint that went wrong when the bay was painted a few years back

Paints dry, went and clipped the loom back into place





Such a pain in the arse as i just wanted to chuck the engine in and get it running, but its a wasted oppertunity not to take stuff off and clean paint etc
