Default My XR3i+..... update 19/9/23

right this cars been around for ages in may different forms i already have an rs turbo for the track day look
don't rely like the standard / old school look

and in fords there ain't a lot in between so thought id have a bash at EURO look

i bought the car about 3 years ago as a daily runner and a replacement for my 1300 rs turbo rep insurance was now cheaper for me and it just happened to be sitting doing nothing 5 doors down my road lol

it was matt white with Kawasaki green stripes and decals and black steels, but never the less mint despite a tiny bubble on 1 arch, a deal was struck with the owner and I learned more about the car

the bloke worked from an m.o.t station and an old woman bought it i for mot on hearing it needed welding (tiny bit to passenger seat) she decided she didn't want it and traded it in for something on there forecourt, fella i bought if from used it while his mondy was being repaired and never even signed a log book making me the proud 2nd owner yes the old girl had had it from new, plenty of history with it too but 135K, which didn't bother me as i was never going to keep the engine lol

anyway i got it home and wasted no time fitting a white RS bonnet, white spoiler, black rs turbo wheels, clear indicators, rs turbo back box and half leather recaros, thats was ok for 3 months

then i fitted some gmax shocks with -30mm springs, rs turbo front brakes, induction kit and smoked rear lights and repeaters

surprisingly this kept me content and then i bought my rs turbo so pretty much all plans when out the window

the car was smoked round with various different wheels and other small mods creeping in like steering wheel changes, gear knobs, seats etc etc

then came the acquisition of these

it totally changed how i viewed the car and i decided to take the Euro route on things given the low wide stance the car now had

off came the vented bonnet and all the decals and i decided to fit some proper shocks and went for koni's (wheels catch slightly on rears other wise lol)

then the interior got random things carpeted and rears seats had head rest's and badges added

then it was time for a refurb on the cossie wheels

them some plates and wiper arms

thats pretty much where things are now im in the process of doing some more euro orientated mods

all rear rears

and a stumpy passenger mirror

and a swap back to air box

thats pretty much how things stand at the moment, the car is still a work in progress, as it needs some tlc body wise a few "EURO" mod's are planned and a swap to some more VW inspired wheels

engine and chassis wise i have pretty standard plans, fez turbo power cos management cos brakes front and rear

thanks for looking

forgot to add the pic of it recently

seats are simpel, i cut a hole in the side of the seal material and just pushed the badges on and bent the pins over,

if u have a set of recaro badges from genuine recaro front seats you'll see its pretty straight forward they way the fit (auto specialists sell them too thats where mine are from)

for the head rests i made some brackets fitted them to the rear of the seats and notched out the parcel shelf so they fitted inbetween

Lovely looking 3i mate.

As it's EFi it's RIPE for a turbo conversion using a FRST lump

You know it makes sense.

nah lol there a proper cunt it took like 7 hours to get this 1 smooth, and alot of head scratching to get the mechanism in and level and getting the mirror perspex straight etc, its still not on the base plate either.

prob be easier with electric but i was given manual ones so when with that

only things i can suggest is try asking TWINS or have a go your self

Nice! And I do like the Cosworth wheels on it, just don't think they're "Euro" enough, they're at least an inch too big, and it just doesn't really look all that "Euro" to me.

Some Ronal Turbos in black with white detailing would look

the rat looks its just abit of fun for now not extreem rat just a few bits, rusty bonnet, roof rack and rime stickers, only be untill mot time as arch is goin and dont wanna just get it repaired as its a project car that'll have full respray and engine change when i buy a new daily
