I thought the engine stand idea was ingeneous.... until I measured an escort and the height of the stands.....

I don't think an engine stand, even a sizable one, is high enough for when the car is on it's side.

Here's an Esc Cos on an ebay special....

I used to 2 stands the simular to this 1 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Clarke-engine-...d=p3286.c0.m14 But i had to take the wheels off the end furthers away from the upright, Reason being is that if you look at the side pic the upright is not vertical. Also the brackets i made to bolt to the front and rear of the car are made adjustable left to right, if you move it off centre then the car will go right over 90'.
Cost me Ł90 for 2 new stands.
I fit mine with the legs pointing away from the car and put weights on them for safty, plus i do tie them together with a rope along the floor low as possible for piece of mind.
Work a treat plus they take up very little room when dismantled.

i was the first to make them from engine stands i just lengthened the upright and made some brakets pice of piss usw the heavy duty clark ones dont change the angles they are like that si things dont slide about cos the angle ads friction
