If only the owner was as nice as the car .

Seems a bit pointless to do all this to it, but not get it on track - what did you say - you're too scared?

One of my favourite Sapphires, just needs a Stack dash to complete it .

Ahh Mike. May have guessed you would have come out with some nonsense too nervous i said, but then i drove 8 laps of the ring in a car not belonging to me, so why i'm nervous is beyond me. Give me a stack dash then please

In a box in the back of my car along with 16 other pairs of springs, waiting for Ahmed to tell me which ones are yours .

I keep seeing you mention this, so is Mark installing the electric fan that you asked for, in the airbox that is supposed to super-charge the engine?

Rich, great read mate and a well sorted car which looks and sounds very useable.

This is very similar spec to mine engine wise though I'm only peaking 28psi, does mark shead still do setups on l8 ecu's? I'm thinking about going to see him and ringing some more boost out of the old girl.

Thanks for the kind words and support. I have very nearly given up as stress levels rose through the roof especially with the cam belt snapping and the near dash fire, but a calm head and a good mates who know what they are doing helped no end

They were built for touring car racing, the Sapph ones weren't. I think it's something to do with the geometry but someone else will have a more concrete answer

its to do with the roll centre as it lowers the anit roll bar. I have asked suspension Guru Mike to answer the question. HE has told me but it didnt sink in. You need 3 door track arms as well

As standard the roll centre disparity front to rear is crap on a Sapphire and if the car is lowered, it actually puts the front roll centre several inches underground . The Sierra being a homologation special, needed the roll-centres to be as close as possible from front to rear to make it handle as good as possible to compete with other cars on the circuit, so they spent the money on unique hubs that move this up to an acceptible level, along with improving the bump steer as well.

The reason that this wasn't transferred over to the Sapphires is that it makes the steering very direct and it was considered that the people buying this "rep mobile" would not like this kind of "dartyness".

Nordschleife, there's only two barriers to worry about - the ones on the left and the ones on the right .
