renault 5 thread
Hi guys and gals
Excuse the name and the car I knw its not a ford, the name was supposed to say bigboost not bigboot lol any way Im a member on here because you ford lads gave me loads of inspartation towards my project and one day I will own a either a escort costworth or a sapphire cosworth any way don’t hate me to much for doin this cos iv bit the bullet just now lol n gone n done it, (hides for cover awaiting the abuse)
This is my project an original Renault 5 dimma, not the skeete kit or prima racing but an original dimma (just get sick of all the wide arched ones on ebay bin dimmas when there not) enjoy the build
This is how I got her. Couple of thing to sort mainly the dredfull French wiring lmao
then I stripped her out fitted cobra buckets and that’s how she was for a while, power wise?? I dnt knw ktec set it up for 18psi on a t25 but I don’t trust previous owners so I turned the boost down for now to bout 10 psi well within what a standard carb can cope with. Then I hit some boosting problems at 2k comeing on boost it would splutter n nearly cut out, I swapped the modded carb for a standard one of my raider and it sorted it but again turned boost down to bout 8 psi
some plonker had fitted a surfboard to the front of the bumper so I removed, and added a ctm open mouth grill which looks wired in a pinky gold flip, and decided to go fmic.
Should help the little ones cooling issues the got some hard boost pipes but still haven’t got round to getting my silicones yet. This is how she sits atm moment, well sort of anyway
After a hard night at work ive decide on my color scheme
Main body and centre of wheels will be ford panther black
All brackets and various other stuff and outer lip of wheels will be Chrysler sbe
Along come some Renault 21 txe discs 285
And the brackets to suit
Freshly painted in the color of choice
Only to find the calipers catch on the edge of of my rims, so that mod is on hold for now and standard go back on for now
Which brings me to this week if started to strip the under neath ready for painting
Tank off
Going to be rplaced by a jaz fuel cell
Rear beam stripped and is at the powder coaters
As well as a lot of other bits n bobs
Got my first parts painted in the blue
And started stripping down another block for a rebuild with forged rods n pistons
More updates to come. Hope it’s a good read and don’t slate me to much

Hi, here's a picture of my toys
I had to sell the GTT because the lack of parkings here in Paris... Still regret it a bit...
Fully gasflowed head, cam shaft, big valves springs, IHI turbo, home made FMIC, grA carb tuned with a lambda sensor, big diesel radiator with separate oil cooler, near 160hp @17psi.
Viarouge Bilstein style shocks, Eibach springs, and Carbone Lorraine pads.
A very sensational car, a reliable at the end I owned it !!
Went to Brungtinthorpe in 2006 for the RTOC nat day

I've got a white one with the BBR Stage 3 engine & suspension conversion.
Purported to kick out 218hp, but I reckon some of those horses have gone walkabout since the conversion was done.
It looks a bit of a shed but is stripped out and will be used only for the strip and track.

10K+ Poster!!
are you going to be making a custom exhaust manifold or just buy one from the likes of k-tec or bb tuning?
years ago as a young un i made a turbo manifold etc for my Clio 16v with the plan to go the whole hog and rebuild the engine etc but it didnt materialise... here's a few pics for you
also got a few pics of some n/a and some supercharged 1.8 16v and Williams engines fitted to Renault 5's if you want to see those too
