R.I.P. Focus Turbo...Focus RS on the go! FOR SALE!!!!!
Well as everyone knows, my Focus Turbo, which its history can be seen here....
https://passionford.com/forum/restorations-rebuilds-and-projects/231169-focus-turbo.html
.....died a very horrible death, as can be seen in this thread....
https://passionford.com/forum/general-car-related-discussion/235738-well-its-over-guys-car-in-flames.html
Inevitably, the loss of the car has left a major void in my life as it has always been the sole thing I could turn to when everything else seemed dull. No regrets, gave me a hell of a lot of enjoyment and I really wouldn’t change a thing…except maybe knowing the oil pump was on its last leg
So in the first week of almost going crazy without a car, I literally took a step closer to madness by buying a very nice 2.6 Twin Turbo RX-7. The colour was questionable, but damn was it a fun “look at me” ride People always tell me, “once you go Jap, you don’t go back”, so I went and bought a proper one. It was fun, but not a patch on a fast Ford.
So I continued my search for an Escort Cosworth, and although I found the one I want….well, wanted for the better part of 10 years, the owner won’t sell up just yet. So another toy is needed in the mean time.
The phrase “stick to what you know best” kinda has a big part here…
Here she is, number 0788. Owned it for a month now. Very clean car TBH, a few bits n’ bobs needed seeing to, but nothing major and were sorted in my driveway within a few minutes. Lovely car, but not a patch on my Black Focus.
How she looked before I picked her up…
As mentioned before, some bell-end nicked around £2,500 worth of gear off my Focus while it was in the “secure” lock up, but they failed to spot my custom stainless intercooler pipework. Although the intercooler itself was not salvageable and the Roose hoses were all destroyed, I managed to get all the key bits and sent them of to my local sand blaster and also had them coated in satin black. Not trying to copy the Black Focus’s engine bay, but roughly the same setup. All I need now is to get another Intercooler and Roose hoses and I get sell the Chargecooler system complete.
Ding in the long pipe where the engine mounts melted and everything collapsed on the pipe...
I cut the ding section out and tig welded a new piece in before powder coating...
I was a bit concerned when I took the car to my local playground in Ogwen, driving it hard into the usual corners to see how she compares to the Black Focus. Pretty good in all fairness, but feels a bit like a good handling boat due to the height. So decked it a bit with some H&R’s. Also, whilst I took everything off the front end, I gave the struts a once over with some paint and cleaned everything up etc (and no, the yellow bucket isn’t used as an axle stand ) Oh, and I had a mate paint the bumper vents and fog surrounds in gloss black, while the upper grill was colour coded.
I got me some nice new smoked ST170 lights.
Thought this was a nice touch...
Mods so far…
K&N Gen II with Pumaspeed 400 elbow,
Bluefin and decat file,
Miltek exhaust,
Miltek decat (Thermo-Tec wrapped),
Custom intercooler system,
Turbosmart recirc. Valve (already on it),
H&R springs,
White wheels (already on it)
Gloss painted bumper fins and fog surrounds,
Colour coded grill,
ST170 headlights
Still missing my Focus so much, can’t believe it’s gone so quickly. The whole experience has been heart wrenching and I pray that none of you will ever have to experience anything as bad.
So in conclusion…I’m back in the game

Here's a bit about the recycled intercooler
On my black Focus....
After the fire, you can see the inlet pipe behind the engine and beside the front wing, and the long pipe from the compressor side of turbo is sitting on the drivers side seat, after being chucked from the road after the fire...
After picking them out of the car...
After cutting the dented bit out, tig welding a new piece in, sand blast and powder coat in satin black for a little change from the original look...
With some custom Roose hoses and a 700x220x70mm intercooler, trial fitting so far so bare with me Still need to get some more hoses to extend the filter like my old one was, along with a nice big Group A again
Getting there slowly, had the car a month now, but I think in that time the work I've done is quite impressive, baring in mind the loss of the black one is still hovering

Nice!!! Needs the wheels painting. Silver or Black I think.
Pity about the black one, it was a lovely motor! But if you did that with a 1.4 shopping car, where will the RS end up. 500bhp monster?

Fantastic car mate, I think the wheels would be better standard, but I love it! I made you this, Won't last long on here, so you might want to use one of the three images. But, will be okay for most other forums.
Keep up the good work, Benni.

Www, that's clever, cheers for that Benni
But the wheels have got to go, their immaculate, but the Compomotive's are IMO the best wheels on a Ford. Gotta be done again
Oh, look out for me in Liverpool Benni, I'm there a lot

Newly revised Intercooler system now fits a treat, after a bit of alteration work to allow more clearance from the air con, as the black didn't have that.
Note, the filter is for sale after next week when the Group A comes

Just some updates to keep this thread alive
Had some time to fit my new wheels today, so here's a couple of pics. Sorry, no arty farty pics like usual, didn't have much time, hence the blurryness...
These are for sale if anyone wants them. Packed and ready to go to a new owner...
And off subject of wheels, who wants to guess what I'm making for track days? Looks very rough here, started making it a day after my tonsilectomy  so wasn't really up to it, but these were taken a while back and it looks much better now, and will soon have a nice gloss black coating. Will feed enough air to me nice big Group A

PassionFord Post Whore!!
Looks mint on the new wheels... Perfect choice for a Focus RS...
That bit of fibreglass above... looks like a air feed, looks like it'll fit neatly where the n/s headlight is suppose to be...
Very nice...

Took some pics this morning of how she stands. A little dissapointed I couldn't get a manifold in time, but I don't think it looks too bad after just 2 months of ownership
The headlamp pod will be ready, so that will be on in the show too!

As you've probably read in one of my previous threads, I was busy making a duct for my Group A filter for track/show use. Here's how it started, using a posh Carte Dor ice cream tub for the duct
But because it was quite difficult to work with from the outside mold, I made another mold from the inside of headlamp lense. Which IMO looked more original because the fibreglass resin showed all the small details like the lines on the upper lens and the Ford logo etc.
Making tatty brackets, which will be changed when I have enough time to focus on the pod more after Ford Fair. Which includes all impure sections due to lazy filler rubbing ...
Then had it painted in gloss black to match the bumper fins and fog surrounds...
The hardcore ending
