With these wheels on: ew!

then ripped the plates off and put new ones on:

and thats how it looks at the moment, the car went in for an mot today, doesnt need too much doing to it

front suspension, track control arms and ball joints, rear wheel bearing needs adjusting, and a few bushes here and there.

current plans are:

New roof

get all the mot stuff sorted

Sell the magnex axhaust system, i dont like the sound of it.

Buy a full custom stainless exhaust from permazaust, they make it to my spec and can make it sound how i want it to sound

Polybush the whole car

Buff the entire car

Paint a few bits here and there

Replace every bolt for new ones

New bumpers

Few other bits and bobs that i cant remember right now.

Basically the story behind the car is its been sat for just under a year and the owner just wanted rid. Ive bought it as a project, the shell is absolutely solid, never had any welding nor is it showing any signs of it, even in the usual places there is very minor surface rust statring to show, but under the bonnet is in very good condition

Current spec:

Escort xr3i cabriolet;

1990 'G' plate

4-2-1 branch manifold

Kent cam

Vernier pulley

Sierra sapphire cosworth steering wheel

Mint 88' spec interior throughout

Full Stainless 3" magnex exhaust system

17" Dezent alloys

OMP strut brace

Rs turbo spoiler

90 spec bumpers

Cheers for looking, Dan

sorted all the work for the mot now, forgot to add the most important one to the list of failure..................emissions

i now know that on the efi model there is a screw that you can adjust which i have located, its back in at work for its re-test on thursday so i can have a play about with it and see if can get it under 3% fingers crossed!

got it back from its mot and attacked it on the saturday, stripped down the passenger side to replace the strut and tca and found that this was why the car was pulling wildly to the left

replaced the strut and tca on passenger side:

did the folowing on the drivers side too ( i didnt have to replace the drivers side strut for mot but didnt see the point in only replacing one )

the arch looked great for condition, again no rust:

i sprayed it satin black (it wasw going dark by this time so no pics of it lol, but painted the caliper red and took a quick pic the day after:

took the front bumper off aswell to see what condition the front panel was in:

again only small areas of surface rust, so ive flatted the front panel and its going to get a fresh coat of paint

New plans now ( providing the car gets through emissions test on thursday ) are new BLACK roof, and a full respray in pearl white, although the paint could be buffed back to a shine, there are areas where the previous owner has burnt through the paint from previous attempts at restoring the paint, and touching in stonechips with a very off-white paint.

thats all for now, cheers for reading

new bumper fitted, its not brand new, bought it from a local ford breakers and to be fair it looked crap when i picked it up, but in better condition than the one i already had on, so it was bought, took the cab home and took the bumper off, didnt expect to find what i found, but after a quick wipeover the area behind the bumper it looked like this:

gave the new bumper a good wash, took out god knows how many scratches, and then clayed and polished it, then fitted it:

my idea now is with getting a black roof, to have black bump strips instead of red, i think it will break up the colour nicely

with regards to news about the roof the car is booked in on the 16th for a brand new black mohair roof which is costing Ł380 fully fitted with new tensioning cables too, and my parents have decided that since its my 21st birthday this month that they're gonna pay for it for me as a present big weight off my mind

thats it up to now, updates when new roof is on

cheers, Dan.
