Hi unit was full of all very high hp cars as usual most put the Peril’s hp in the shade big time one well known sapphire cosworth runs 2.9 BAR !!! and over 700 hp 

We started off back with just the general driveability and throttle response of the car a few people have said how much of an animal is a fwd Volvo with 535 hp to drive well I can honestly say you can quite happily drive it as a normal car with out any dramas in heavy traffic the car is happy to trundle along with the flow of traffic even the paddle clutch is not a pain at all not quite the un driveable monster a few ill informed people have said if you use a good standalone and THE BEST mapper you will have no such problems of course you need to adapt your driving style with the larger turbo’s but there is a large lever in the middle of the car called a gear stick you can use to great effect to help you 

We set the boost up to 2.3 bar as that’s where we got to last time I was happy to go a bit further this time now that the liner problem was hopefully gone for good so we went up to 2.4 then 2.5 bar I was happy to stay at this level the performance at 2.5 bar is quite shocking the Peril is like not other Volvo I have been in or probably will ever be in I cannot wait to do a few performance tests of the car in the future.

We then set up the water injection we have for now set this to cut in at a preset of inlet temp so the Sm4 handles all this side of the WI it can even when set up control each WI jet individually all very clever

While we were out we set up the launch control which works very well all you do is come to a stop turn on the switch then hold the throttle flat out the Sm4 takes control and holds the revs at 4.5 k all you do then is lift the clutch easy…Then it was the turn of the anti lag which is just for a bit of fun no performance gain at all just some fantastic noises which I love nothing quite like a 5 cylinder car popping and banging away.
Once we set up the traction control with a new chip for the Sm4 I will make a few practice starts for future event…..

I thought it was time I had better put a heat shield around the silicon hose that come from the compressor housing on the turbo as it runs rather close to the exhaust manifold

I even managed to get a carbon look remote control for my alarm

I also had a bit of spare time one evening and made a couple of metal plates to go over the lifting area of the floor with checker plate I had spare from the inside of the car so cut them out and used panel sealant to fix them in place

So if I ever need to jack the car up I can keep the lovely yellow paint unmarked that’s all for now .
what a garage all they top motors bar the shity mini

Can't believe I have just registered on a ford forum, to find out about Puma's, and spent the last hour reading about a Volvo, absolutly stunning Motor Russ respect where its due, sounds like quite a steep learning curve, ever onwards and upwards, bet its be fun trying to put that sort of power through the front wheels, although traction control probably helps, didn't volvo do some of the 850's in 4 wheel drive.

What happens when you finish, another car? or is it an ever evolving aiming next for 1000BHP, or till the wife gives you an ultimatum

Hi Fungus

Thanks very much its been and still is a great fun project that has pushed me to the limit and beyond and the wifes patience if the 4 wd system from volvo was a bit stronger then a kit kat i would of gone that way you would be really surprised how well it puts the power down every passenger thats been in the car has been really surprised

I doubt it will ever be finished but hope the final hp figure will start with a 6 i will be happy with that The wife loves the car as much as me so i am safe

Hi all just thought i would add one of my videos from the speed trials from last October i have not been able to convert them until now so thought i would finally add some noise here :

You will here the anti lag start @ 1 min 42 once i cross the finish line (centre switch on the dash) no aid at all to me other then the noise just to please the watching crowd hope you enjoy them and it gives you some idea how the car sounds this is the second run of the two I had on the day a 13.83 @114 mph not the fastest time in the world but I was happy I never went to win the event just take part I will be doing more ¼ mile runs soon as the gearbox parts are complete .

Enjoy :

Ok here goes I finally managed to sort out my video of the very first launch of the Yellow at Brighton as you can see as I moved to approach the line I switched on my launch control (far left switch this was my main error as the car MUST be stopped for 2 seconds for it to activate)

But with all the excitement of the event I forgot !! I then turned on the anti lag (middle button) just for some off beat five cylinder music (makes the car sound more like a Subaru lol) pops when coming off the throttle no performance advantage at all as I get ready to launch.

I then realised the car was not in launch mode so tried to get it to switch in (as it turns out the car did not like this mistake and so cut the revs from 2nd to third gear as you can here !!

As you can clearly here my thoughts on the run at 2.26 says it all lol

Its only after working out how to do all this video editing that I worked out what went wrong lol

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYCMiKrGRcQ

Enjoy

Hi Andy

Hopefully the car is still useable i did 30 miles in it last weekend just to blow out the cobwebs lol the box is still as noisy but works fine (i was rather kind to it in 1/2/3 just in case lol

The problem has been the third gear cog which is pressed onto the main shaft has been shifting position moving along the shaft then rubbing the fourth gear hub making this noise :

With some help we have come up with a solution to hold the gear in place i will soon have the box re built and back in the car so will soon be able to test it all out

Russ
