Default my e36 track car

as it looks like this may become an ongoing project i think i might start a thread.wont be as glamarous as most but here goes.........

after doing a couple of trackdays in my bmw e39 m5 i found that i really enjoyed it and am hoping to do many more.however the m5 quickly made way for an e46 m3 smg-perfect thought i,until it sank in that it was a hell of a lot of money to be throwing round a track.

so a cheaper alternative was required that would be quick enough to enjoy, reliable enough to take a track day and maybe even get me to germany......

there was a few options,evo 4,impreza sti,integra type r,m3 e36......

i then knew about a bmw on here for sale that may just fit the bill...........

red e36 coupe fitted with all m3 running gear,m3 interior,18" alloys, etc etc for very sensible money-especially as i could recoup some cash from selling the alloys and trim.....

last week i collected the car and was pleasantly surprised with its overall condition.engine sounded strong and sweet, which was the main thing.,,,diff just rebuilt......superb!

a pic of the car on the truck...

i had already sourced a set of 17" e36 m3 alloys which i was planning to use as track tyres in this size would be cheaper!,so on they went.
whilst wheels were off i could see confirmation that the car had bilstein shocks with eibach springs,m3 brakes with braided hoses-albeit with cheap textar pads!

onto ebay goes the interior-sold in 24 hrs!

quick trip to demon tweeks and ive now got a new seat/runner/harness.
and some ds3000 pads!

I would've had this if you didn't. I'm after a cheap 3.0 M3 to turn into a full-on track car. Doesn't really bother me it being non-genuine as long as it's got the spec

good luck with it!

right then, interior is now completely out and im surprised just how much weight there was in the front seats alone!never mind how thich the carpets/sound deadening was!.

bucket seat now in with harness.its fairly noisy in there now but its only here to do one thing-track!

took it out today for its first proper run up the road.it feels very quick for an m3 with instant throttle response.went to oulton park to watch the porsche rs track day.came back following my mate in his gt3 and the run back was fun, every time he overtook,i chased him and he never got away!-but he has only just bought it(but so have i!).

i have just booked its first trackday at oulton park on the 29th april.cant wait!

just got to fit the front pads, replace fluid and give it the once over.
should be fun.
