Don't get on here that often so only just seen this, the diff goes in easier with the cover fitted as you may already know based on the date you posted.

I've tested mine on the road and diff is noisy when turning, is anyone else suffering this with a Bara built diff with weir kit?

Was a cunt to fit in mine lol the diff/cover covers over the front 2 diff hanger mounting bolts. I had to fit the diff then bolt up the hanger in place with the rear 2 bolts. Then drop the diff out the way to do the front 2 hanger bolts up then re fit the diff with the hanger in the way lol. Still it's in there now. I can't drive mine at the moment as there's no engine but being pushed around in the yard it was making the same type of noise my gripper diff did but not as bad

Yeah exactly the same, the fitting i had a good heads up from Mark as he's fitted a few into cars now so he told me the best way. Still took us longer than thought as the fronts wouldn't locate on one sit and loads of pissing around.

I could not find any 80/140 fully synthetic l.s.d oil anywhere I left things a little late. So I got some 75/140 fully synthetic l.s.d oil from jaguar and it's castrol oil. The difference between a 75w and 80w is fook all just the 75 is a little thinner if far colder than it gets here

75/90 is normal diff oil. Bara told me to use 80/140 which is the same oil that went in my gripper. Not sure what Toyota recommend

My diff was also a fiddly nightmare to fit!
Had it out a few times now so have got the knack of doing it.
I also run 80/140 fully synthetic in mine, it is a little noisy, esp when pulling away and cornering but otherwise has been as good as gold.

Chris what boost is your car running mate?

Cheers Paul

Interesting on the oils, I had millers 75/90 in mine and it was noisy, Bara has just pulled mine apart for a check over and all us ok, so I may try and get 80/140 for it before I refit.

I struggled with traction on a 3.6 with r888's at 500 lol a higher ratio diff wouldn't have been any better. I was told by someone who's been there and done it with different gearing and high torque

PMSL - my last car had 4.54:1 and 450 ft/lb and on tar did not struggle with traction.

maybe I had my tyres blown up too hard lol you can only take advice from the people you trust. I know of one car with a supra 3.9 equivalent. Runs about 540 ish bhp that struggles big time. But he is on a standard beam still

So what your saying is that the differential ratio exacerbates a poor geometry or lack of/poor limited slip diff really.

Its really all about the grip, and using all of it to put the power down, not having bump steer on the rear or camber changes.

Far too many people under tyre the rear with decent power.

Car is looking epic Brammer

I'm using Millers CRX LS 75W90 NT In mine before and after the bara rebuild with the weir kit and it's way worse now with it fitted. As said above turning and pulling away is noisey after that it ok . I'm on a 3.9 and it's way better for me personally as acceleration is used more often and is way more fun than top speed.

Mine is near 500 bhp and I have 195s, in 2wd it smokes them, in 4 wd it grips and goes. I have supra 3.9 and quaife front with skyline box.

I agree with Ade.
I don't think the lower gearing effects the lack of grip.
Just poorly set up cars...

Thanks for that mate I'm glad you enjoyed the feature, a fair bit has gone into it that people don't really see. It's made my day you appreciate the work done

I'm undecided on which oil to try or just stick with the oe spec that's clearly suited to the std diff. It seems a bit drastic going for such a heavy oil to just to try and mask the noise the weir kit has started.
What are you thinking of using ?

Not a great deal to update as i haven't even seen it in months but tomorrow i think i'll pull the cover off and start the ball rolling. The car is booked in with Andrew Gallacher for the beam and suspension setup in a few weeks which i'm very excited about as i really want to find out how good these beams are.

I got my headliner material here so i'll have a bash at doing that then really didn't plan on much else, i'd like to get a custom air intake built but that can happen in time.

Another trip to MSD to check the map and she's good to go.

Updates on beam soon

Just to update - AG Motorsport set up the beam, to fast road settings and it does it's job very well, the supra diff is doing it's job well, car goes dart straight and no when spin on full boost but goes like the clappers so big smiles
