Hi Brammer

Lovely project you got here with your RS 500. Looking superb and sweet ride.

Quick question on post number #2443 on this thread wrt to the bearing used for the steering. Not sure on RS 500 but do you still have the adjustability of your steering column once you install this unit. I've seen a lot of guys do it here on PF? I want to do it on my Sapph but don't want loose the adjustable steering?

Cheers

That bearing only replaces the original plastic /rubber bush so I doubt it'll affect your adjustable column.

Not updated this since mapping, car drives good with the 4 stages of boost and pull hard, need to learn how to use all of the power correct in each gear as i find myself short shifting all the time but i'll get there.

The rigid wheels are a country mile better than the 3 piece splits as the car doesn't pull all over the place now which helps.

Had a little pre Ford Fair bufty session, i don't do it often as it takes for ever but it needed it so...

The latest change has been underside, the standard beam and 7.5" diff have been removed and replaced with the Maxgrip stage 1 3.9 MA70 Supra diff, MT Motorsport Billet diff cover and MT Motorsport 3dr rear beam - i've retained the OE 3dr rear ARB setup as i feel it works fine on a 3dr and any other would change the characteristics so time will tell.

To finish the installation, a visit to Dave at BCS in St Helens for a custom exhaust to fit around the 6 degree and diff and he's created a lovely piece of work

Next job is to get the car setup at the rear and tested on the road, i'm going to book the car in at MSD to check the boost is still fine.

Looking very nice under there but how come you have gone for the 3.9 diff ? I fort you would of been better off going for the 3.7 as it's closer to the standard 3.6 Cosworth diff . Only asking as I no a lad running 18 inch wheels with the 3.9 diff and he said the car runs out of gears and it feels like it need a 6th gear

Bit of a bummer it being a 3.9 when it should of been a 3.7
If you ever think about pulling it out to go to a 3.7 i will swop you a 3.7 crown wheel and pin that I'v got as I'm going to be running a supra diff in my focos and it's 4x4 so I have to run 3.9
As you can see I'v got some spares lol

Good point that was made to me when I was looking for one was if you have a lot of power you can struggle for grip. A 3.9 will make that worse

What's it like fitting the supra diff with that cover. I'm bolting mine in tomorrow but it looks like the set up covers the front 2 diff hanger to floor bolts

I'd rather have the 3.9, the car's I've been in that have switched to 3.9 feel like they've had another 50bhp added.

Car is awesome by the way real credit to you

I know what you mean about changing up too early, my car comes on boost and goes silly and I keep grabbing a gear with 2000-3000 rpm to go.

All depends on your engine really if you have a lot of torque then a 3.9 just adds to traction problems.
